The Chinese PLA troops are one fascinating breed of soldiers—from eating snow in the cold, steep altitudes whilst defying the army manual to using crude medieval weapons to threaten Indian armed soldiers, the wussies of PLA have been constantly exposed for their lack of training and discipline. Now, a maneuver which shows their abject desperation and lackadaisical approach, it has been brought to light that PLA is now blaring Punjabi songs near Finger 4, so as to soften up the adversary into lowering their guard on the fiercely contested mountainous spur.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, on the southern banks of Pangong Tso, the Chinese loudspeakers apart from blaring loud Punjabi songs also told the Indian troops in chaste Hindi about the futility of being deployed at these heights in winter season on the whims and fancies of Indian politicians back in Delhi.
As winter rapidly approaches, a scared China is running a propaganda campaign in a desperate bid to make India back-off as it knows that the PLA troops stand no chance in the unforgiving Himalayan winter. The whole idea of PLA is to pull down the morale of Indian troops and create dissatisfaction among the soldiers that they do not always get hot steaming meals and logistics.
On the intervening night of August 29-30, India had gained strategically important heights in the Rezang La- Rechin La ridgeline south of Pangong Tso and since then, the Xi Jinping regime and its private militia, PLA has been up in arms. The trepidation of the Indian army is such that the Chinese troops have resorted to using the same tactics that they had played during the previous wars. The PLA had used the same loudspeaker tactics in 1962 skirmishes in the western and eastern sectors as well during the 1967 Nathu La skirmish.
Whenever the Chinese Communist Party and its supreme leader, Xi Jinping is cornered, it unleashes its psychological warfare by using propaganda mouthpiece like Global Times or in this particular case, the loudspeakers to get its way around.
Beijing does it so to display a false sense of bravado to the world. At a time when India has occupied all the important heights along the LAC, with the winter fast approaching, Global Times has resorted to spreading propaganda about how the PLA troops are better prepared to handle the unforgiving winter.
Reported by TFI, even when S Jaishankar was meeting his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, Global Times ran an editorial titled, “Talks with India come with war preparedness” where it falsely claimed that China was much better prepared for a winter war than India.
Editor in Chief of Global Times, Hu Xijin, had released a video where he claimed, “the PLA’s frontline soldiers can enjoy hot meals once winter reaches the plateau. Some sympathize with the nearby Indian soldiers who can only eat cold canned food and have to endure the severe cold and potential spread of COVID-19
Going against the battle-hardened soldiers of the Indian army is a risk that the Chinese are not willing to take after suffering a bloody-nose in the June 15 clash, despite planning and ambushing the Indian forces. Such was the wrath of Indian soldiers that to date, China hasn’t released the official numbers despite the citizens back home demanding to know the fate of its soldiers. According to several reports, it has been estimated that Indian forces bludgeoned somewhere around 50-60 PLA troops in the area.
The timid Chinese troops and their commanders are afraid of the looming winter as they understand that come winter, India will hold a superior advantage in the area. Therefore, blurting Punjabi songs and delivering sermons in Hindi is its last-ditch attempt to make any sort of difference. Unfortunately for PLA and Xi Jinping, the Indian Army is not given to such antics or whimsicalities.
