As Pakistan continues its free-fall into the throngs of radical Islam, the lives of the minorities living in the country are beyond deplorable. Pakistan backed terror outfits are wreaking havoc in Afghanistan too as Sikhs especially have come under repeated attacks in the past couple of months. Seeing the plight and the helplessness of the minorities, India is all set to grant shelter to 700 Afghan Hindus and Sikhs before India’s Independence Day.
In a significant development, the Indian government has approved to grant shelter to 700 Hindus and Sikhs from Afghanistan following increased attacks on the minorities, reports Aditya Raj Kaul.
A top government official speaking to Kaul, said, “Ministry of Home Affairs has given its approval for providing a long term visa to Afghan Sikhs and Hindus which we usually give to persecuted minorities from the region. To begin with, over 700 such individuals have been identified and the required formalities are underway to bring them to India before 15 August.”
This development happened after a brutal attack at a Gurudwara and an abduction. Earlier in March, a devastating terror attack in Kabul’s Hari Rai Sahib Gurudwara where 25 innocent Sikhs were brutally killed.
The abduction of 60-year-old Afghan Sikh Nidan Singh Sachdeva by Pakistan’s ISI and Taliban-linked land mafia on June 17 was the last straw for the Indian government. Nidan Singh was abducted while visiting a Gurudwara for Sewa. He was subsequently handed over to the Haqqani network and then taken to Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with his family asked to pay a ransom.
Nidar Singh was released after his wife wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi seeking his help in securing his release. Nidar Singh was released on July 18 by Afghan NDS and other security forces.
The twin cases of attacks further highlight the importance of the Citizenship Amendment Act. The CAA helps all the persecuted religions and doesn’t target any particular region.
The fact that the Indian government is aiming to get the process done by 15th August signifies that the Modi government is making a grand spectacle of it.
It is extremely important to make a big deal out of it as it will act as a tight slap on radical Islamists in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh were respect for minorities is next to nothing. Unspeakable human rights violations against the minorities are committed on a regular basis in these countries.
With this move, the Indian liberals who vociferously protested against the CAA without even understanding the legislation to serve the propaganda of their political masters, have been effectively silenced and left defenceless.
India is taking care of the persecuted, thanks to the Citizenship Amendment Act.
