While communally enraged mobs attacked authorities that went searching for Tablighi Jamaat workers who had attended the 8,000-member strong transnational conference amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, the most disturbing of all such incidents of mob violence took place in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
When health officials were on their way to check for Coronavirus suspects and to save their lives, they were attacked brutally by a mob which went on a rampage.
The mobs again were blood-thirsty and hurling pathetic abuses at health workers, including women health workers. The huge mobs made the health workers run for their lives and at one point you can hear someone asking for “hot water”, which may even be a reference to acid, as the mobs are ready to go to any extent in order to keep the Tablighi attendees untraced.
In fact, a woman doctor who was also under attack from the unruly mob said that she wouldn’t have come it alive had it not been for the police forces who accompanied them for the screening process.

Now, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has taken exemplary action against those involved in this brutal attack, booking them under the National Security Act (NSA). The four individuals involved in the attack have been identified as Mohammad Mustafa (28), Mohammad Gulrez (32), Shoaib (36) and Majid (50).

Earlier, in the day Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister clearly appeared furious with the manner in which health workers were attacked by the communally enraged mobs. He had tweeted, “This is not just a tweet. This is a stern warning … Human rights are only for humans.” In fact, this tweet remains pinned on his handle showing that he had already made up his mind to take those radical Islamists, who incited violence, to task.
He had also posted a video on his handle in which he made it clear that none of the anti-social elements inciting violence against health workers would be spared.

Clearly, furious with how anti-social elements went on a rampage when authorities tried tracking down those who arrived in the state after visiting the Alami Markaz Banglewali Masjid in the Nizamuddin area of South Delhi- the global centre for Tablighi Network, the Chief Minister also tweeted, “We will, of course, fight to win against Coronavirus. But together we have to fight and defeat every single virus that tries to make the country hollow from inside. Bharat Mata ki Jai!” at around 2:30 AM.

Earlier, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had removed former NRC Coordinator Prateek Hajela, a 1995-cadre IAS officer, as the MP Health Commissioner on the ground of his ‘dereliction of duty during the Covid-19 pandemic.’ With such stern actions, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made it amply clear that no negligence would be tolerated in the state insofar the fight against novel Coronavirus is concerned.
