‘Modi wants to beat Coronavirus with utensils,’ John Hopkins ‘Economist’ mocks Indians, gets slammed brutally
Share on FacebookShare on X

Steve Hanke’s Twitter bio states that he is an ‘applied economist’ at the Johns Hopkins University, apart from being a Senior Fellow, and director of a project called ‘Troubled currencies’. In contrast to his vile and hateful personality, Hanke’s likes to call himself a professor.

Off late, Steve Hanke has found a leisure pass time, to mock Hindus, Indians and PM Modi. Basically, the man despises anybody from this land who is proud of his/her culture. As a result, when millions of people resoundingly stood out at 5pm last Sunday and blew conch shells, rang bells and utensils and clapped following an appeal by PM Modi to do so, in order to thank all those people who were leading the fight against COVID-19 in India, Hanke’s was particularly disappointed. It seems the man could not fathom how PM Modi, who he thought to be a divider on religious lines, could unite the entire country with one clarion call.

The ‘Professor’ went on a rant against India and PM Modi, something we now believe he must be regretting.

.@narendramodi believes beating utensils is a good response to #Coronavirus. Earth to #Modi: no it is not. #Science & rationality should be a guide. Not baseless rhetoric. #JanataCurfew pic.twitter.com/yNms3YM9Zy

— Steve Hanke (@steve_hanke) March 22, 2020

For this absurd tweet, trying to build a narrative that PM Modi had asked citizens to do so in order to ‘defeat’ the Chinese virus, Hanke’s was thrashed left, right and centre.

Actually @steve_hanke PM @narendramodi never said that beating utensils is a way of fighting #CoronaVirus Surely ‘Professors’ at big universities should do some basic research of their own before amplifying rumours from WhatsApp University. https://t.co/fZhSssM4ZW

— Rahul Kanwal (@rahulkanwal) March 24, 2020

Shameful that a person of your repute spreads fake news/rumours in blind hate for India and its traditions. India as a mark of respect came out in balconies on call of PM @narendramodi to applaud doctors, health as well as emergency workers. There was no other reason. Fact check? https://t.co/MBm5jCglUc

— Aditya Raj Kaul (@AdityaRajKaul) March 24, 2020

How can someone in your position lie so blatantly…!!! Did you even hear @narendramodi’s speech asking people to do this? He clearly said this was to thank and motivate medical personnel.

— Manak Gupta (@manakgupta) March 24, 2020

Stop being silly. The clapping and clanging of utensils by citizens on 22 March at 5pm during #JantaCurfew was in response to PM’s call to show solidarity for those working in this time of crisis.

It was a fun way for a dramatic & theatrical show of gratitude🙏 Mocking is dumb.

— Amrita Bhinder 🇮🇳 (@amritabhinder) March 23, 2020

While PM Modi had clearly stated that the people shall come out and thank the unsung heroes of India, Hanke’s conveniently chose to ignore the same and attempted to spin a deranged rhetoric. Just to put things into perspective, the same man turns out to be a deep admirer of Jinnah, as is clear from the tweet below.

"Failure is a word unknown to me." – Muhammad Ali Jinnah pic.twitter.com/UvyUenuPa1

— Steve Hanke (@steve_hanke) March 22, 2020

Steve Hanke’s derides India and its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic on a priority basis. The tweet mocking PM Modi and Indians is not a first of its kind. In fact, the man’s entire feed is dedicated to daily bashing of Hindus and Indians, and the culture of this land. How an ‘economist’ is so concerned about subjects not related to his field of expertise is again something which needs to be pondered upon.

“Expect the best, prepare for the worst.” – Muhammad Ali Jinnah pic.twitter.com/LkpvtT0hGm

— Steve Hanke (@steve_hanke) March 21, 2020

Dr Kumar of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in #Delhi says that #India's #Coronavirus cases are just the tip of the iceberg. He is correct. #Testing in #India is scarce & #Modi is not treating the threat seriously. The real numbers are much higher. #IndiaVsCoronahttps://t.co/QCbk7mwetC

— Steve Hanke (@steve_hanke) March 21, 2020

Gatherings like this one are not going to stop #Coronavirus. #Modi’s baseless rhetoric & lack of action is only going to cost lives that could have been saved. #JanataCurfew. #CoronavirusInIndia. #CoronavirusPandemic.pic.twitter.com/QmvbPHBekT

— Steve Hanke (@steve_hanke) March 23, 2020

.@narendramodi is obsessed with PR stunts. His response to #Coronavirus has been expected, lacking in transparency & based on rhetoric. Testing is woefully low & unscientific treatments are touted. The Butcher of Gujarat may become the Butcher of #India.https://t.co/aroXtH9XEN

— Steve Hanke (@steve_hanke) March 24, 2020

Steve Hanke is the classic white man who’s hate for Indian civilization is deeply entrenched within him. To validate this hate, the man makes use of an already biased international media ecosystem, thus making his views look notable. Remove the lavish articles and vocabulary from the equation, and what will remain of the man will perhaps be unworthy of being called a ‘professor’.
