China Chinese deaths Coronavirus

The Wuhan virus crisis is deepening by the day with the number of confirmed cases going past 6,00,000. Initially, the epicenter of the virus was Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province of China but since then Italy, Spain, New York, Malaysia and now Pakistan have emerged as the hotbeds of the fatal virus. The collusion of WHO with China helped the spread of Coronavirus virus and as a result, the world is in recession. China has contained the virus and has started with its diplomatic offensive charm by aiding the European and poor countries. There have been conspiracy theories accusing the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for unleashing the pandemic upon the world. As the countries battle with the virus, the Chinese people, sitting afar are deriving pleasure from the World’s misery.

According to a report in Daily Mail, a restaurant located in China’s Shenyang’s Taiyuan Shopping Street district set up a huge banner to celebrate the coronavirus outbreak in the United States. The bright red and gold banner was seen hanging at the restaurant’s entrance last Sunday, March 22. “Congratulations to the United States for the outbreak of Coronavirus and wish the pandemic lasts forever in Japan”. the banner read.

The photos of the controversial banner has been making the rounds on social media, where it has received immense criticism from all flanks.

The restaurant owner, known by their surname Hui, installed the banner – without alerting the head office beforehand – as an attempt to attract customers, said the franchise, Mama Yang, in a statement. It is being reported that the controversial sign was taken down within two hours and Hui had been detained by local police for further investigation. But by then the damage had already been done.

The trade wars with America and a race to become the new superpower has entrenched deep hatred in the minds of Chinese for the Americans. Similarly, anti-Japan sentiment has been deep-rooted among Chinese nationalists as territorial disputes and World War II grievances have marred the Japan-China relationship for decades.

The narrow-minded nationalism and utmost disdain for human lives and values showcased by China is deplorable, to say the least. Nobody expects empathy from Communist China but the least they could have done was show some veneration for the dead.

China might be going on the offensive and trying to change the narrative of spreading of COVID-19 by twisting facts, strong-arming international bodies. But every Tom, Dick, and Harry knows that the Chinese have inflicted irreversible damages on the globe. To top things, China has started brewing the cauldron for crisis-profiteering. In a bid to show its humane side, it delivered test kits to Spain and the Czech Republic but as it turns out nearly 80 percent of the kits were faulty.

The world is busy fighting the pandemic at the moment. Perhaps there might be several other examples that have not seen the light of the day where Chinese are openly celebrating the death of Human lives.

One thing’s for sure after the dust settles, China would have to pay dearly for setting the world 20-30 years backward. The repatriations are heavy, both financially and emotionally and China needs to pay it. Total boycott, eviction from international bodies and economic sanctions are the only way to go about this.
