After PFI and SIMI, Pakistan’s involvement emerges in Anti-CAA violence

A carefully orchestrated anti-India protest

The role of Islamist organisations like PFI and SIMI in the manufactured anti-CAA protests have been exposed by the intelligence agencies and communist leader Shehla Rashid shedding her Marxist learnings to come out as an Islamist and practice Muslim identity politics over the CAA is further proof that the anti-CAA protests are just an Islamist agitation. In a sensational turn of events, Pakistani links have now emerged in the anti-CAA protests as Chennai Police have begun probe probing Pakistani links in the anti CAA protests.

Chennai Police Commissioner has said that his officers were probing the alleged Pakistan links of a woman activist booked for anti-CAA kolam protests after one of her social media accounts mentioned her as being part of an organisation based in that country. Chennai has been witnessing unique protests against CAA as protestors draw rangoli outside various houses and halls protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act even if it meant forcefully drawing rangoli despite resistance from the owners. Recently, a protester drew anti-CAA messages despite opposition from a nonagenarian house owner.

Commissioner AK Viswanathan told reporters, the Facebook profile of Gayatri Kandhadai, one of those booked for protesting by drawing kolams, says she is a researcher for Bytes For All (B4A), Pakistan, part of The Association of All Pakistan Citizen Journalists (AAPCJ) based in Pakistan. The website of Bytes for All (B4A), Pakistan says it is a human rights organisation and a research think tank with a focus on information and communication technologies. It organises discussions on relevant topics, presents findings and mobilises opinion.

The country has witnessed violent protests against the CAA with protestors often resorting to vandalism. The Seelampur violence unmasked the true face of the protestors as they shed their masks and openly attacked the police which saw the additional DCP sustain multiple injuries. In Lucknow, the violent mob burned an entire police post. A total of 20 motorcycles, 10 cars, 3 buses and 4 media OB vans were torched by the violent mobs in the area surrounding Parvati Chowk in Lucknow. The Hanuman temple in Patna’s Phulwari was also attacked and vandalised by so-called anti-CAA protestors during the Bharat Bandh called by the RJD. The mob alongside RJD goons executed their “Bas naam rahega allah ka” philosophy. The mob exhibited their extremism and intolerance towards the Hindus by desecrating the auspicious temple, they have shown the tenets of Wahhabi philosophy which believes in the total annihilation of the Hindus and other religions.

The Intelligence Agencies have successfully established the role of PFI and SIMI in the protests. Recently, the UP Administration arrested 25 people linked to the PFI for their role in the violent protests. The PFI has played a major role in instigating violence across the country especially in UP and Assam under the garb of anti-CAA protests. The outfit has also been very active in promoting Jihad and classes on Jihad are conducted by some of its members. In these classes, the PFI even preaches that killing right-wing activists who oppose Islam would provide them ‘religious rewards in the afterlife’. The outfit has been on the radar of the National Investigation Agency over the past few years as the NIA has named PFI in at least four cases – for chopping off the hand of a professor in Kerala’s Idukki district (July 2010), the murder of RSS leader in Bengaluru (October 2016), serving as the Islamic State Omar Al-Hindi module in Kochi (October 2016), and organising a training camp in Kannur from where bombs, IEDs and swords were recovered (April 2013). Kerala police claim PFI is involved in at least 27 political murders in the state. In 2014, the Kerala government submitted an affidavit in the High Court to the effect, also adding that the organisation was also involved in 86 attempt to murder cases and more than 125 cases of whipping up communal passions.

From PFI to SIMI and to now Pakistan, the anti-CAA protests followed the devious and insidious strategy of hiding behind students in the garb of protests and unleashing violence from behind the curtains. The anti-CAA protests are unravelling at an unprecedented rate and the government must be aware of the non-state actors whose only aim is to destabilise the nation.
