The reason why Mumbai’s HR college threw Farhan Akhtar out

The “intellectuals” of Anti-CAA protests

Once a wise man had said, “Cluelessness is not an attractive quality in a man.” Going by the opinions of Farhan Akhtar, it seems that he never pondered upon this quote at all. The actor cum director cum singer cum lyricist has been under criticism for his venomous posts against the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act, and he has been recently booked by the Hyderabad Police for allegedly inciting the Muslim and the Dalit communities.

Farhan Akhtar had earlier posted a tweet thread explaining the need to protest beyond social media at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, which was held on 19 December. In this thread, he exhibited his blind hatred for the incumbent government, which was so much that he even ignored the fact that he had presented an inaccurate map of India in his tweet thread.

The map showed PoK as part of Pakistan, for which Farhan was brutally trolled by the netizens throughout the various platforms of social media.

Even though Farhan Akhtar apologized for the inaccurate map, he stood by the text which was anything but genuine. The poster shared by Akhtar spreads fake news about “Indian Muslims” being declared stateless due to CAA and NRC. It also falsely alleges that NRC-CAA will exclude transgenders, atheists, women, tribals and the landless. The graphic shared by Akhtar has the markings of ISI written all over it starting with the distorted map –

A small sample of the information jihad that has been unleashed over #CAA_NRC. Look at how many levels they are blatantly lying in this widely circulated poster.
ISI stamp is all over it, beginning with that map of India.#IndiaSupportsCAA pic.twitter.com/M0CQlNVIpt

— Abhijit Majumder (@abhijitmajumder) December 18, 2019

The graphic claims that non-Muslims under the CAA will be automatically granted citizenship without documents and it will leave Indian Muslims without documentation in a lurch. On the contrary, CAA only ‘fast-tracks’ citizenship of non-Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Any Indian Hindu without documents under the NRC will face the same procedure as any Muslim under the NRC. Non-Muslims will not be getting any free pass in the proposed NRC exercise.

However, it was his conversation with the media while attending the August Kranti Maidan protest that laid his cluelessness about the CAA issue threadbare. Farhan mentioned, “If you go deeply into the issue, you will understand that there is something bad. If everything was right, why would so many people be worried about this bill?” This is not all, when a reporter counter questions him by mentioning the assurances given by the Central Government, Farhan shot back, “So go home sir, why are you covering the protest?” –

If this is with celebrities like @FarOutAkhtar , I wonder how many protestors actually know what is CAA,how many students joined out of peer pressure/peer influence, how many joined in a way that's called mob mentality–doing something without conviction & knowledge of the thing. https://t.co/xeGLuOKcP7

— D Roopa IPS (@D_Roopa_IPS) December 19, 2019

There are people who are confused, then there are people who are literally clueless and then comes Farhan Akhtar. Not only has Farhan no idea at all about the entire issue at hand, but he is also shamelessly defending his cluelessness as if he is the Mr Know It All.

Funnily enough, the poor reporter who was attacked by Farhan turned out to be an NDTV reporter, which is another channel primarily backing the anti CAA protests –

The Madarasa products in Bollywood having close links with Karachi are fueling the violence in the country by mob call. Guess what, these morons do not even know what’s the bill and why they are protesting on the streets! Pls do watch last 25 Sec. 🙏. #CAASupport #FarhanAkhtar pic.twitter.com/lNBqj3d75G

— Hanumant Suryawanshi (@HDSuryawanshi) December 20, 2019

Interestingly, Farhan Akhtar is a college dropout, who was unceremoniously expelled from HR College of Commerce and Economics for the lack of attendance while he was pursuing his 2nd year of his B.Com degree. Now remember this, Farhan Akhtar is the same guy whose father Javed Akhtar had mocked the sportspersons criticizing the seditious stance of ultra-leftist Gurmehar Kaur, labelling them as half-literate. Fun fact, neither Javed nor Farhan have ever completed their graduation, and now they’re imparting knowledge about CAA in their protests. We feel pity for our liberal brethren, who have now their own ‘monkey with a sword’ moment with this duo.

It didn’t take much time for the social media to go hammer and tongs on Farhan Akhtar for his cluelessness, with IPS officer D. Roopa even going on to say, “If this is with celebrities like Farhan Akhtar, I wonder how many protestors actually know what CAA is. How many students joined out of peer pressure/peer influence, how many joined in a way that’s called mob mentality–doing something without conviction & knowledge of the thing.”

As such, it is nothing less than hilarious, that the person, who wastes no time in exhibiting his sound intellect on issues like the protests against Padmaavat, has no idea about what is CAA, forget even caring to look into the matter. To be fair, Farhan is the living embodiment of the quote “Hypocrisy is the art of lying shamelessly.”
