If you thought that political ineptitude was a trait exclusive to Rahul Gandhi, then you’re in for a big surprise. Turns out, his sister too is as incompetent a politician, which was clearly evident from the embarrassing Lok Sabha performance of the party from Uttar Pradesh, after much chest-thumping of having Priyanka Vadra as the in-charge of eastern UP. Presently the general secretary of the Congress party, she is regularly catching the headlines, for all the wrong reasons of course.
Priyanka has been time and again exposed for her frivolous and usually false statements and claims. Only recently, her grand (slotxo level grand) theatrical performance at Lucknow where she claimed to be ‘strangulated’ and manhandled’ by a policewoman was debunked. She further earned the ire of the CRPF, which provides commandoes for her security under the Z-category. In under two months, she has made the claim of a ‘security breach’ twice now. Subtly hinting at a security breach she faced in Lucknow, she told the media that it was insignificant and that the people’s security was her prime concern. This uncalled dig at the CRPF was dismissed by the force, further cautioning Priyanka against such future haphazard changes in her itinerary.
“During travelling, the protectee used non-bullet resistant civil vehicle without a personal security officer. The protectee took a lift in scooty as a pillion rider,” the statement said and added: “Despite the security constraints, the CRPF provided appropriate security cover.” It further said: “Such security lapses have been communicated to the protectee and advised for ensuring proper security arrangements in future.” As a result, Priyanka was left red-faced for attempting to create a controversy where there was none.
In November, Vadra’s office had claimed of a security breach at her residence when approximately five people successfully got into her residence and clicked selfies with her. It was later exposed that these were mere Congress workers and that the whole event, in all probability was staged. At the time, the Congress and its durbaris had claimed that this was a result of the withdrawal of SPG protection for the Gandhi family.
After her Lucknow gamble, Priyanka Vadra went on to launch an uncalled for and distasteful rant against UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Priyanka Gandhi told media in Lucknow that UP CM Yogi Adityanath did not do justice to his saffron robe, as the colour ‘denotes Hinduism, a religion that does not advocate violence or “revenge”.’ This effectively meant that the UP government must neither punish rioters nor seek compensation from them for the damage they inflicted during the violent and orchestrated protests against CAA. In reply, UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma said that the Congress and other parties were trying to communicate that saffron denoted violent tendencies to create unrest in the country. It must be remembered that minus the pre-election temple-hopping of her brother, all saffron-clad individuals are perceived by Vadra as violent and revengeful people. The Congress’ hatred for Hindutva, and Hindus at large, is not unknown. Having been brought up in an environment as such, Priyanka is simply carrying forward the ideology which she has imbibed from her surroundings.
Only this month, the Congress had shared dubious video footage from a news outlet named ‘Bharat Samachar’, which claimed that Dalits were being brutally beaten for testifying against upper caste goons. Quoting this tweet, Priyanka tweeted, “In Uttar Pradesh, goons brutally assaulted Dalit brothers for testifying against them. The BJP government is playing a mute spectator. Every single day, Dalits and Adivasis are being openly assaulted by goons. Such law-and-order situation and assault on Dalit-Adivasis will not be tolerated.” What came next as a huge embarrassment for both the Congress and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Mainpuri Police replied to Priyanka from its official Twitter handle, stating, “We deny the above information. The scuffle broke out between two families belonging to the Rajput community. We have registered a case. An investigation is on.”
Time and again, Priyanka Vadra has been exposed for lying and spinning off absolutely false narratives of incidents. However, she continues to indulge in the same quite unapologetically, refusing to learn from her mistakes.
Being Rahul Gandhi’s sister, whether this is a case of rivalry among siblings, or whether they are trying to outshine each other in foolishness is something we are unable to comprehend. Perhaps the Congress is in dire need of a new pappu, and Priyanka may be the frontrunner as of now for the position.
