That the Bhim ‘Army’, headed by the notorious Chandrasekhar Azad is a rogue organization is a fact which cannot be contested even by an inch. The recent protests which have been orchestrated across the nation have been meeting fierce police action in some parts, as protesters resort to violence against public property and public safety.
On Friday, a massive protest at Delhi’s Jama Masjid was organized against the Citizenship Amendment Act, reportedly headed by Azad’s Bhim Army. After the Friday prayers, the protesters were to march from Jama Masjid to Jantar Mantar, which was not permitted by the administration. Meanwhile, the police had sufficient grounds to detain Azad for disrupting public order and provoking violence. The police did in-fact catch hold of the man during the day, however, owing to massive resistance from his Bhim Army, he managed to escape. Reports suggest that Azad ran from one building to another in a haphazard manner, jumped over terraces in desperation to prevent the police from arresting him. The Print report stated: “The policemen, could not locate him for hours, despite raids, till he came out himself and sat on a protest inside the Jama Masjid around 2 pm.”
Azad then remained inside the premises of the Jama Masjid, positioned on the stairs of the Mosque. The Police cannot enter any place of worship, and Azad took full advantage of this rule. The stand-off between him and the police lasted for 13 hours before he himself surrendered before the police. He was yesterday sentenced to a 14-day judicial custody after his bail plea was dismissed by the Tis Hazari Courts.
Meanwhile, BSP supremo Mayawati slammed Azad and suggested that he deliberately got himself arrested after provoking sentiments, and that was his signature style of collecting votes before any elections. It is important to note that the Delhi elections are around the corner. This makes sense, because after so desperately trying to escape the tentacles of the police, why would he suddenly surrender? He announced his surrender in a tweet.

Now that he is under custody for another 14 days and the police is sure to try its level best to ensure that the bolting and hopping leader of the Bhim Army remains there. Chances of him being released are thin, as he has repeatedly stoked violence and disrupted peace in Delhi shamelessly.
