Subramanian Swamy, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP and one of the foremost intellectuals of the country, is well-known for personal attacks on the members of the Nehru-Gandhi family. Carrying out ad-hominem attacks on the members of the family seems a hobby to Swamy who does not mince words and tells it as it is. His favourites in the Gandhi family are Jawaharlal Nehru and Sonia Gandhi.
Swamy’s latest attack on Sonia Gandhi came in the backdrop of Congress party’s opposition to Citizenship Amendment Bill, which, according to members of Congress party, is a ‘fascist’ decision. The members of the Congress party compared PM Modi with Adolf Hitler, and TMC MP Derek O’Brien even counted the ‘visible signs of fascism’ in his Rajya Sabha speech.
In a befitting reply to opposition parties, especially the leaders of Congress party, Swamy tweeted, “It is ironic that Congis are calling Modi Hitler and BJP Fascist. Congis’ President TDK (Sonia Gandhi) is the daughter of a soldier of Hitler’s Army and was a POW in Russia. Later he defect to KGB. Her mother a volunteer in Mussolini’s Fascist Youth Wing.”

Sonia Gandhi’s family’s shady links have struggled to remain buried, and Swamy has been one of the politicians exposing details that are important for the people of India to know about the Itailian born Congress Supremo. As per an article in Outlook, published on February 1998, “he (Stefano Maino- father of Sonia Maino) had proudly fought against the Russian Reds alongside Hitler’s Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front in World War II.”
In his autobiography One life is not enough, former foreign minister Natwar Singh revealed that, in 2005, Sonia Gandhi visited little town called Vladimir by helicopter and told him that her father was a prisoner of war during World War 2.
She told him that her father escaped from prison and walked all the way to Italy. But, the reality is that her father defected to Russian intelligence agency – KGB- and later ditched KGB to reach Italy.
Sonia Gandhi is also found to be involved in Augusta Westland chopper scam. The Court order mentions Sonia Gandhi’s name (signora GANDHI) four times. The name appears two times each on page 193 and 204 of the judgment. The Order convicts one Giuseppe Orsi, one Bruno Spagnolini and other officials of Finmeccanica.
