The frustration of a select coterie of individuals, which has been piling up against the Modi government for the past six years was brought explicitly forward days after the crucial Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed by the Parliament, making it an Act of Indian law. What began as violent clashes in the Northeast soon spread to the entire nation under the garb of ‘protecting’ the Constitution of India.
While all other state governments were struggling to maintain law and order in their states, Uttar Pradesh was in no mood to entertain the theatrical hooliganism of those who knew nothing about the legislation, yet, who were out on the streets creating a spectacular nuisance.
‘Saharanpur Express‘ broadcasted an audio clip of the SP of Bijnor, UP- SP Sanjeev Tyagi, in which he is seen elucidating upon the orders which the police force has received from the Yogi administration and how they are not going to be merciful against anybody causing harm to the public safety and property.
He begins by saying that the said Act, which lies at the core of these protests, has been passed by Parliament and in no way affects any resident of Bijnor, or as a matter of fact, any Indian. Therefore, to violently protest against the legislation which is not affecting any Indian will be met with harsh consequences, he warned. He added that the orders from the Chief Minister’s office were clear: No mercy must be shown to anybody taking law into their own hands. Yogi Adityanath further has reportedly said that if protesters are indulging in violence against anyone, especially the police and public property, why should the Police be submissive and cowardly and not thrash such hoodlums? “Haath-Pair kyu nahi tode gaye hai inke jo maar rahe hai? Aisa kyu hai ki upadravi jo tamasha kar raha hai uske saame police haath jod rahi hai…?”

The SP further added that there were unequivocal orders from CM Yogi’s side, that the police need not fear any quarters and that they should not deter from taking the harshest of action. “Sabak sikhaaiye…unki buddhi theek ho jaani chahiye, aur unko dekhne walo ki bhi buddhi theek hojaani chahiye.” He further goes on to say that in the event of the police failing to take action against the rioters and teaching them a lesson to remember forever, the administration will straight away take strict action against the concerned police officials. Such a bold statement has raised the morale of the UP Police which is now handling these goons in a manner which they deem fit.
Damage to public property will not be tolerated at any cost. The government has ordered the police to ensure that anyone trying to cause damage to any public property should be dealt with an action of unimaginable proportions and should be made aware that they will bear all such losses. Earlier, Yogi Adityanath had made it clear that the losses which have been incurred due to the violent protests will be compensated for by ceasing all properties of the people involved in causing the damage. Further, the police force has been told to maintain strict decorum and ensure that they wear nothing but their designated uniforms.
Also, the personnel, while at duty, must always wear anti-riot gear for their protection.
Such strict orders coming directly from the Chief Minister have boosted the confidence of the police force. Uttar Pradesh has set an example when it comes to dealing with people who wish to strike anarchy in the nation.
