Ashutosh, the journalist turned politician turned journalist is currently associated with a publication called Satya Hindi. The man has yet again made a fool out of himself. Although he has quit the Aam Aadmi Party, the tendencies remain quite unchanged. At the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), there are protests ongoing for the appointment of Dr Feroz Khan as a faculty member at the Faculty of Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vigyan, BHU. It must be remembered that according to the protestors, the founder of the University, Shri Madan Mohan Malviya himself was sceptical about the entry of non-Hindus into the campus of the Sanskrit Vidya Dharma. Although the protest of the students is against the appointment of Dr Khan as a faculty, Ashutosh and his publication have completely concocted a false version of the protests and attempted to make it look like an all-out onslaught by Brahmins on other castes and communities. This is an abject lie.
In a tweet, Ashutosh asked a fundamentally wrong question: “Do only Brahmins have a right to study Sanskrit? Can Dalits and Muslims not learn Sanskrit?”

The issue has been falsely projected by Ashutosh to somehow convince people to believe that the protests are aimed against non-Brahmin and non-Hindu students. Being the habitual liar that he is, Ashutosh further tweeted the link to an article, an article I had to go through. A hateful and anti-Brahmin piece, completely insinuating non-existent theories. Since mentioning the fact that a non-Hindu professor’s appointment is what has caused these protests would not grab many eyeballs, Ashutosh gives a brazen twist to the incident. The contention is between the students and the university. How Ashutosh is bringing Dalit and Muslim students into the frame is something which we are unable to comprehend. Now that it is established that the protest is between the students and the university administration, will action be taken against Ashutosh for lying on a social media platform and inciting hatred using false information?
In 2016, Ashutosh had defended an expelled AAP minister Sandeep Kumar who was caught receiving sexual favours in exchange for ration cards, using the analogy of Mahatma Gandhi. He claimed that Gandhi was romantically, and sexually involved with multiple partners. This invited the wrath of many citizens, and a Delhi Court had an FIR filed against him. Additionally, Ashutosh was among the three journalists who surrendered before the courts for airing a fake sting operation on Dr Ajay Agarwal, falsely showing him as a ‘shaitaan-doctor’ who robbed patients off their limbs and forced them into begging. This sting operation was found to be absolutely false. Ashutosh, Rajdeep Sardesai and Raghav Bahl were among those who had to apply for bails from the court and avoid judicial custody for their unethical journalism. He then joined the Aam Aadmi Party. All these facts prove that Ashutosh is a habitual and repeat offender and has no respect for facts and that he can go to any extent for getting hold of some attention. The last point also proves that he is bereft of any logic.
Again, the protest of the BHU students is directed against the university, and not against any individual, leave alone a particular caste or community. It is for the government and the university to decide upon the veracity of such protests, and if need be, explore options of a judicial recourse in the case. People like Ashutosh who know nothing except lying and spreading misinformation must be called out for their brazen ignorance towards facts.
