Recently, CPI(M) politician Sitaram Yechury raised controversy by mocking the Sanatan Dharma, calling it violent. He did not stop at that, but also said that Sanatana Dharma is violent because its scriptures such as Ramayana and Mahabharat propagate violence.
Yechury said, “Ramayana and Mahabharata are also filled with instances of violence and battles. Being a pracharak (RSS functionaries), you narrate the epics but still claim Hindus can’t be violent? What is the logic behind saying that there’s a religion which engages in violence and we Hindus don’t?”
Though extremely atrocious and insulting, this is not the first time the communist leader has attempted to vilify our nation or the native culture of our nation. Well known for his insensitive statements against India or the native culture, Sitaram Yechury was one of the first few leaders who had joined the Congress bandwagon in mocking the air strikes executed by IAF pilots in the wake of the Pulwama attack. From mocking NDA government to linking RSS with assassinations of MM Kalburgi, Gauri Lankesh, etc, you name it and Sitaram has done it.
However, one man did not take the barbs lying down. Noted economist cum politician Dr. Subramanian Swamy took Sitaram to the cleaners. He shared his thoughts on the same and hit out at the CPI(M) leader.

According to this tweet, Subramanian Swamy suggested that Sitaram should change his name to Marleni, which would suit his ideologies quite well since Marleni is a well-crafted mix of Marx and Lenin, the two icons of the model of communism that Sitaram Yechury and his comrades claim to pursue.
Earlier, during the hearing over the question of whether Shri Ram existed or not, an interesting anecdote is often quoted on social media. Though disputed, it mentions that when the rival lawyer mocked Dr. Swamy by asking if he goes to worship the iconic Ram Setu every day, to which Dr. Swamy cheekily replied, “I also worship the Sun, doesn’t mean that I’ll go there to pray.” It is mostly due to his efforts that the Ram Setu still exists, even though the then Congress government tried everything under the Sun in order to break it, claiming Shri Ram as a ‘mere figment of imagination.’
Moreover, this is not the first time that Dr. Swamy has hit back hard on people trying to mock India or the Sanatana Dharma. Only a couple of months ago, when politicians like Digvijay Singh mocked NDA government and IAF for executing airstrikes in the terror camps situated in Balakot, Chakothi and Muzaffarabad, Subramanian Swamy hit hard on them, asking if someone asked the USA for proof after dreaded terrorist Osama bin Laden was slayed by the US Navy SEAL commandos in May 2011.
He even labeled Navjot Singh Sidhu as mentally unstable when the latter became overtly affectionate with ex-cricketer Imran Khan, following his rise as the PM of Pakistan. Swamy had also roasted left liberal actor Prakash Raj publicly on a Times Now debate.

Sitaram Yechury and his comrades have a reputation of allegedly insulting the Sanatan Dharma in the name of liberal thoughts. Dr. Subramanian Swamy, in his own iconic style, showed Sitaram Yechury his place and set a clear example for one and all.
