Yesterday, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal was slapped in West Delhi during a roadshow. The incident took place in Moti Nagar area. The man who slapped him was identified as Suresh. He climbed atop Kejriwal’s open Jeep and slapped the Delhi CM before being overpowered by the AAP supporters. Now, it has been reported that Suresh, a resident of Kailash Park in New Delhi, told the police that he is an AAP supporter. Aged 33, Suresh deals in spare parts.
DCP (West) Monica Bhardwaj stated that Suresh was taken into custody and taken to the Police Station. The Police stated that he is being interrogated and the reason behind the slap will be discovered. However, according to police sources, Suresh, has identified himself as an AAP supporter during interrogation.
While the opposition had started blaming the BJP for the attack on the AAP National Convenor, Kejriwal, it seems that the reality might be pretty different.
It is also important to note that recently it had been reported that Arvind Kejriwal was allegedly manhandled, by some AAP MLAs, at his residence. According to Kapil Mishra, Arvind Kejriwal was allegedly manhandled by a few AAP MLAs. He had tweeted, “Big news if true; there are speculations that three days ago few AAP MLAs had manhandled Arvind Kejriwal at his residence because of which he hasn’t left his residence to accompany candidates for filing their nominations. Is it true that Kejriwal was beaten up by AAP MLAs?” This had raised serious questions about the kind of culture prevailing in AAP. If the chief of a party and CM of a state can be beaten up by goons masquerading as ‘lawmakers’, how safe is the public?
The fact that Kejriwal was allegedly assaulted by the party’s legislators themselves and has now been slapped by a person who has identified himself as an AAP supporter hints at a possible conspiracy behind the incident. It may very well have been an inside job. The party seems to have developed rifts at many levels leading to such shocking incidents. Rumours are abuzz on social media about the faction of disgruntled MLAs orchestrating this incident of slapping the party supremo. This does not augur well for a party which had promised to bring about a transformation in the Indian political system. This does not only suggest that the party is falling apart but also displays how hooliganism has become a part of party’s culture.
