Shatrughan Sinha, who has recently joined the Congress Party after leaving the BJP, made a controversial statement at a rally in Chindwara, Madhya Pradesh. Sinha lauded Muhammad Ali Jinnah along with Mahatama Gandhi and Vallab Bhai Patel. Sinha was supporting Nakul Nath, son of Kamal Nath who is contesting Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Chindwara constituency. Congress Patna Sahib Candidate, Sinha also mentioned that these were the members who had a role to play for India’s Independence.

Shatrughan Sinha while explaining the reasons of leaving BJP also said that he is now a member of the Congress Party and is here to stay. He said that he will not leave the party and will dedicatedly contest elections. Sinha mentioned Jinnah as part of the Congress Party family.
Sinha said, “Ye Congress parivar Mahatma Gandhi se leke, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel se leke, Muhammad Ali Jinnah se leke, Jawaharlal Nehru se leke, swargiya Indira Gandhi se leke, Rajiv Gandhi se leke aur Rahul Gandhi se leke inki party hai jinka desh ke vikas me, desh ki tarakki me, desh ki azadi me sabse mehatvapurna aur sabse bada yogdaan hua, isliye hum yaha aye (Congress family from Mahatma Gandhi to Sardar Patel to Muhammad Ali Jinnah to Jawaharlal Nehru… It is their party. They had the most important role in development and freedom of the country. This is the reason why I have come here (in Congress),”.
Jinnah has been the pioneer of the separatist movement that led to the formation of Pakistan and divided India. He was in the forefront of demands made for another country for the Muslims. He holds a major stake and responsibility in the death and massacre of millions during the partition. Sinha clubbed him along with the Indian fighters who fought for Independence of a unified India. The communal theory practiced by Jinnah is known to everyone but the Congress leaders.
A party which claims that it is a national party with roots from the pre-independent India is now praising separatist leaders like Muhammad Ali Jinnah who led India to be divided on communal lines. It is not hard to believe as Congress in these LokSabha elections has made its agenda very clear. It has made the idea of pursuing communal politics evident through actions and statements of its leaders.
Recently in an interview to ANI, Congress Delhi in charge, PC Chacko praised the terror funding accused Yasin Malik. PC Chacko had praised Yasin Malik in order to attack Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, who is fighting the Lok Sabha election from Bhopal seat and said that the courage shown by Yasin Malik should be appreciated.
Shatrughan Sinha with his comments is bound to bring great trouble to Congress which already has a weak stand in these Lok Sabha elections and its leaders are well aware of it. Congress is trying to ruin its legacy it holds in Indian politics. It is indeed sad to see a party which always boasted about its pre -independence roots is now outright supporting separatist group leaders.
