Prime Minister Narendra Modi is probably the most denigrated public personality in Independent India. After being kept on pedestal by media for over a decade for the 2002 communal riots which followed the Godhra Massacre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown resilience and sharp skills to take control of the agenda and let the singing bells sing. Traditional electronic media in India has historically been dominated by a group of select elites, result of a perpetual quid pro quo within the industry and many of the former governments, which prevented people with unbiased and independent views to contribute to the major part of the news.
Media or as called by many, ‘Lutyens media’, had emerged as a proxy force of the opposition to fight Narendra Modi on every front. Backed by the ecosystem created by the Congress and left liberals under the garb of civil society participation over decades, this Lutyens cabal has always been ready to twist and mould the narrative to present the anti-Modi point of view of everything.
In the run up to the 2014 General elections, Narendra Modi took the Congress-Left liberals-Media nexus head on and with the usage of digital platforms directly connected with the citizens, skipping the biased middlemen disguised as journalists. Following the massive victory in the 2014 general elections, Narendra Modi followed the trend and interacted directly with the citizens through different initiatives like Mann ke baat, Namo app and others.
Narendra Modi, with his innovative use of technology and curbing of covert foreign funding to different civil societies, has basically rendered the Congress-left liberal media nexus irrelevant and fighting for survival. The usage of direct communication mediums, free of compromised ‘middlemen’ i.e journalists, provided a channel for the citizens to interact with their Prime Minister unadulterated. Scared of their continually declining relevance and seeing this becoming a question of existence, spin masters were again at it. A new narrative of Narendra Modi being ‘scared’ of media was manufactured by the nexus. Aiming to get Narendra Modi to compromise his stand and give in to the nexus’ long standing pious image. However, Narendra Modi was firm in his beliefs and continued direct interaction with the citizens. Not until recently, in the run up to the elections, he had decided to give Interviews to a few TV channels; however the ecosystem was yet to evolve.
Recently in an interview given to ABP news Narendra Modi had responded sharply to the allegations of the Rafale scam, however the nexus again showed its true colors, omitting the part of Modi’s befitting reply, the interview was aired, essentially editing a critical part of the Interview. Another similar incident where Aaj Tak clearly misquotes Narendra Modi for running its own agenda is shown below :-

Different Media outlets have repeatedly twisted, modified, morphed, and misquoted comments by the Prime Minister to suit their agenda, while ethical journalism takes a back seat. In a hostile and unethical environment that exists in the left liberal media nexus, how fair it is for the cabal to say that the PM scared of them? Or the bigger question stands that – Should Narendra Modi or any other leader voluntarily get into this trap of biased journalism?
