In a viral video on twitter the Muslim leaders of the Congress Party are seen discussing the upcoming poll strategies in Delhi. The CNN News18 anchor has mentioned about the following meeting of the Congress leaders in his tweet. In the video the leaders can be heard discussing the strategies to earn a ticket from the Delhi region.

The leaders have written a letter to the Congress President Rahul Gandhi, in which they have mentioned the 5 senior Muslim leaders who should be given a seat from Delhi. The names that are mentioned include, Shoib Iqbal, Matin Ahmed, Haroon Yusuf, Hasan Ahamed and Asif Mohammad Khan. They have also mentioned that these leaders are 5 times MLA and at least one should be given a ticket for Delhi region.
The demands made by the leaders are mainly for two parliamentary constituencies, Chandni Chowk and North Delhi. The leaders have said that they are highly experienced politicians and that they should be given the tickets. They have shown their report card that records regular wins by the MLAs to back their demand for a Muslim candidate ticket in the above mentioned parliamentary constituencies.

The leaders in the letter have referred to the resentment among the population and the political leaders. They have said that the members of the party expect a ticket for a Muslim candidate from the Delhi area. They have requested the Congress President to consider the request.
In reference to the demand the leader have mentioned the “large Muslim population” and the contribution of the 5 Muslim leaders. In the video the party leaders are discussing how the Muslim voters are large in numbers, and a seat will easily be won in Delhi. They have quantified 20 lakh voters who belong to the Muslim community and will easily help Congress win a Muslim seat in Delhi.
The Congress MLAs are thus playing on the population of particular communities. They are continuously using the “community card” to win election. In the video the MLA discussed about how 20 lakhs Muslim vote will secure a win easily. They use the example of outer Delhi region and how Muslim settlers have increased in the area. One of the MLA said “Pehle Outer Delhi mein Muslim nahi tha. Ab jaake dekho, Beshumaar Muslim kaha kaha se aake bass rhe hain” (First, the outer ring road did not have Muslim residents, but now you see, they are living there in huge numbers). These MLAs are using the increased Muslim Population around the areas as political leverage to win a seat.
The agenda of the congress members is crystal clear. They want to play their game on the “Community Card” The estimation of winning by Congress is not on the work done by the party but communities and their population. The main target of the Congress party is clearly the minorities. They are trying their best to retain seats by playing on the minority card, a move which is patent to the Congress Party.
