Under the Narendra Modi Government, India has been witnessing accelerated efforts towards the preservation of the Indian cultural ethos. With steps like the introduction of the Bharatiya Siksha Board which have been aimed to into the mainstream the long neglected Vedic education in India, the Narendra Modi Government has taken a number of steps to tap in the huge potential behind Indic knowledge systems.
Continuing with the efforts the BJP in their ‘sankalp patr’ for the 2019 General elections has also laid a huge focus on this domain. “Since inception, the philosophy of the BJP is anchored in the civilization ethos of India. As we build ‘New India’, we intend to actively invest in strengthening our cultural roots and preserving civilizational continuity. Far from seeing our cultural values as hurdles to progress, we see them as essential ingredients of our future.”(BJP Sankalp Patr)
A main focus has also been given to the preservation and promotion Bhartiya Linguistic Culture in the much awaited manifesto. “We will constitute a National Task Force to study the status of all written and spoken languages and dialects in India. We will also work towards revival and promotion of vulnerable or extinct dialects and languages. The BJP has also proposed to provide 100 fellowships to researchers and scholars across India to promote Sanskrit. “With a focused efforts on promotion of Sanskrit, we will ensure that the teaching of Sanskrit is expanded and popularized at the school level. We will also provide 100 Panini fellowships to researchers and scholars across India to promote research in Sanskrit.” (BJP Sankalp Patr)
This fellowship will surely boost the ongoing research in Sanskrit and promote the language in which some of the oldest texts in the world are written. Ultimately unlocking the huge knowledge potential which has been on the back burner for long.
Mr. Naziruddin Ahmad who was a part of our constituent assembly, which formed our Constitution, when asked upon his views on Sanskrit had quoted various scholars in the assembly “Prof. Max Muller says Sanskrit is the “greatest language in the world, the most wonderful and the most perfect.” Then, Sir, W. Hunter says that the “Grammar of Panini stands supreme among the Grammar of the world. It stands forth as one of the most splendid achievements of human invention and industry . The Hindus have made a language and a literature and a religion of rare stateliness.”
Finally after decades of perpetual neglect this great language will get the respect and research which it truly deserved. Steps to revive and promote Indian cultural ethos is set be a huge step forward in unraveling of Indic Philosophy and is poised to give great dividends for many generations to come.
