Let us do a little thought experiment today. Let me list out a few statements that one of our eminent left-liberal intellectuals made, and let us see if you can guess who it is that came up with these gems. It’s not so difficult, so do give it a try. You must have heard these before.
Statement 1: “They (the Hindus) demolished the Babri Masjid, and it must be rebuilt.”
You must have heard this statement so many times that you probably have more than one name in mind already. So let us move then to the next statement, and see if you can narrow down your options based on this one.
Statement 2: “Gae ka pishaab pine waale…” (Those who drink cow urine, while referring to the Hindus)
Wow, this does narrow it down. You’re probably thinking one of those new age comedians or left-liberal Twitter trolls. Maybe that uncouth blue tick aunty on Twitter who’s face makes you want to puke, because many of them talk like this. You still can’t pinpoint who it is. So let us move to the third statement.
Statement 3: “Let this misunderstanding of yours be cleared, that by killing a few militant commanders in the valley, you can’t weaken the movement.”
This doesn’t help at all. All of them say this. I won’t bore you with any more of the statements this person made, because clearly, it could be any of them. From the charismatic JNU student leader to the historian who thinks the Mughals are the greatest thing to have happened to our civilization, to the journalist who lost her mental balance five years ago, to one of our part-time comedian full-time molesters- it can literally be any one of them.
The reason I conducted this experiment is because this person made a video recently in which he (yeah it’s a he) made these statements, and the video which went viral on social media has been taken down since. Taken down why, you ask? It can’t possibly be because the video hurt Hindu and Indian sentiments! I mean our social networks take extra care to promote that kind of content, so surely that can’t be the reason?
Well if you must know, this video was released yesterday right after the dastardly Pulwama attacks. Now let me burst your bubble. It was released by the terrorist organisation Jaish E Mohammad, claiming responsibility for the attack. The guy in the video wasn’t one of our eminent left-liberals, but a lowlife who goes by the name of Adil Ahmed Dar. Or rather, he went by the name of Adil Ahmed Dar. He was the Fidayeen terrorist who is believed to have carried out the suicide attack.
More than 40 CRPF Jawans were killed in the attack. Doesn’t it hurt a little bit that the same worldview that this Adil Ahmed Dar held, and that prompted him to carry out this attack, is advocated night after night on the television in your living room? Doesn’t it hurt a little bit that the worldview this terrorist held is shoved down your throat through newspaper editorials? Doesn’t it hurt a little bit that the exact same worldview this terrorist held is propagated throughout the day by verified Twitter handles? Apart from the wine they sip and the cars they drive, how different really are the eminent left-liberal intellectuals from Adil Ahmed Dar? How soon before they pick up a gun too? And most importantly, are we going to drain the swamp before we are dead and gone?
