After months, Pakistani cricket seems to be back on track. They’re currently playing against South Africa in a bilateral three-match Test series against the same. Things aren’t going well for the Pakistani team as of now, as they’ve lost two of the three Tests and they’re struggling to make a face-saving comeback.
To make matters worse, one of their key players, batsman Haris Sohail has opted out of the test series. Apparently, the reason for his unexpected exit was the knee injury that he sustained during the tour. However, when Sohail explained the reason, the cricketing world was in for a rude shock. Of all reasons, Haris Sohail left the South African tour citing ‘Black Magic’ as the reason.
Yes, let that sink in. A cricketer opts out of a tournament just because he claims to be possessed by black magic. This announcement has come only a couple of days before Pakistan would meet South Africa for the third and final test, starting from January 11.
If this wasn’t enough, Sohail further went on to say that black magic was the cause behind his knee injury which he survived in the ongoing series against the Proteas after which he was forced to return to Pakistan.
Interestingly, Haris was expected to visit a rehabilitation centre for treatment upon his return, but the Pakistani cricketer instead went back to his home directly. The team management on its part did not reveal the exact reason for of his omission from the series, remaining tight-lipped about the entire controversy.
We are not strangers to popular figures accusing black magic behind some of their tragedies. Leaving the legendary examples of Tej Pratap Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal aside, we have had cases, where celebrities from different fields have accused their rivals of practicing black magic on them.
In another instance, Rakhi Sawant had accused Tanushree Dutta of hypnotizing her, our own India has endured such antics every now and then. However, with his current antics, Haris Sohail from Pakistan has taken this ridiculous trend to a nauseating level altogether.
Moreover, this is not the first time that Haris Sohail has been this hysterical. In 2015, when Pakistan was touring New Zealand, Haris had changed his room, citing the presence of supernatural powers. As such, skipping tours with flimsy excuses is not anything new for this cricketer. At a time when Pakistan’s image has taken a nosedive, courtesy their penchant for terrorism, such antics by their sportsmen only add fuel to the fire.
