Imagine a movie, where every actor on screen has a powerful presence, even if just by mere expressions. Imagine a movie, which has special effects that could give a tough competition to Hollywood. Imagine a movie that caters to every sentiment on the right note. In short, can you imagine a Bollywood movie, based on a recent phenomenon in history that has the potential to be an outstanding, power-packed entertainer? Going by the trailer of Uri, it looks like there is finally one such movie on the platter.
Written and directed by newbie Aditya Dhar, Uri is based on the dastardly terror attacks that took place at the Indian Army base camp at Uri in September 2016, and the subsequent surgical strikes that took place as a result of the same. The surgical strikes took everyone by surprise, and gave India more teeth, sending a clear message to the nation that we’ve stopped taking such insults lying down.
To begin with, the trailer induces goosebumps from the word go. Every scene is carefully planned and executed with finesse. From the horrifying attacks at Uri to the moving scenes during the cremation ceremony of the martyrs, you cannot take off your eyes from the screen for a second. Not every director has the capability to execute this in the first go, so hats off to Aditya Dhar for achieving this on his debut.
Apart from the direction and cinematography, the other major surprise was the VFX used in this movie. Going by the brilliance of the scenes, it is really hard to believe that the people behind the VFX are the same who have given the VFX for the rather pathetic ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. The bombing scenes looked so real, the VFX was barely noticeable.
At some points, the ambiance reminded people of the brilliance that movies like Saving Private Ryan, Platoon etc. commanded. Equally outstanding was the background score, which kept you at the edge of your seats, and induced goosebumps, which is another victory for this film. A special applause should be made for Ronnie Screwvala, who had financed this movie and promoted it.
However, the biggest USP of this movie is the acting crews, who have nailed it at every point. Be it Vicky Kaushal, who reminds people of the Sunny Deol magic from Border, with his calm, composed and rather savage replies. His comment to a dying terrorist at the end of the trailer is something that will send massive burns to the left liberals for sure. Equally awesome is Paresh Rawal, who has literally brought NSA Ajit Doval to life on silver screen.
Mohit Raina is also brilliant as the no-nonsense soldier. To our surprise, even Yami Gautam has nailed it as an intelligence officer, who gives shudders to even the most menacing goons with her fearless expressions and savage dialogues. Along with Kirti Kulhari, who is essaying the role of a straightforward Air Force officer, Yami has proved that one doesn’t need to shove ultra-feminism down the throat like Sonam Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu to make their point. They just need to do what is right.
Given how left liberal media is trying to discredit the movie on surgical strike from the time the teaser was released, Uri has hit all the right notes with its explosive trailer. It is a must watch for sure. I’d go with an honest rating of 5/5 stars for Uri trailer.
