Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s grace in defeat and the way he has conducted himself afterwards won million of hearts. While his successor and newly appointed CM of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath tries to be as divisive as possible, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has remained chivalrous after the defeat on every occasion.
Yesterday, Kamal Nath, while addressing a press conference, stated that offering jobs to the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh is the major reason for unemployment in Madhya Pradesh. He further stated that only those industries would be given financial incentives by the MP government, whose 70% of employees belong to the home state. Such a statement by a Chief Minister of any state does nothing besides promoting regionalism. His statement against the people from UP and Bihar drew sharp criticism from the politicians and political parties of UP, Bihar, and centre as well.

Shivraj Singh’s tweet on the estranging rhetoric of Kamal Nath is an example of how great statesman he is. Showing courtesy to mandate, he graciously participated in the oath ceremony of Kamal Nath to pass the baton to his Congress successor. He is not just an esteem politician but also one of the best CMs, the nation has ever seen. Shivraj Singh Chouhan took the oath as the Chief Minister in 2005 after BJP changed two chief ministers in less than two years. At that time, Chouhan was considered a political lightweight despite more than two decades of political expertise. Madhya Pradesh witnessed among highest agricultural growth rates in the country and therefore millions of people were uplifted from poverty. The industrial sector also performed well despite the human capital and industrial base limitations. Indore and Bhopal became the showcases of MP’s resurgent economy. The city of Indore ranked the cleanest city in the country in last two years as per the Swachh Survekshan report published by urban development ministry. The welfare policies made him one of the most popular political leaders in the country.
The policies of Shivraj Singh Chouhan got him second and third term consecutively. In fact, in 2013, the number of seats won by the party increased in MP Vidhan Sabha elections compared to the 2008 elections. Even after 13 years of Chouhan’s rule, there appeared no signs of anti-incumbency in the state.
When Shivraj Singh Chouhan was appointed as the CM of the state, MP was among the BIMARU (Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh) states. BIMARU is an acronym used to represents most underdeveloped states of the country. In less than a decade and a half, he pulled the state out of the league of most underdeveloped states of the country. His defeat in the assembly election of Madhya Pradesh is a big loss for the people of the state.
