According to a report by Economic Times (ET), Prashant Natt, a 30-yearold petty criminal, is now the prime suspect in the Killing of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in Bulandshahr mob lynching case. Earlier, a Bajrang Dal member Yogesh Raj was falsely accused in the case. While talking to a journalist from ET, a senior police officer made these claims.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) of Uttar Pradesh, Anand Kumar, while taking to ET on Wednesday, said, “Natt is a suspect in the killing of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh, based on the video footage we have and based on oral testimonies of some other people”. He further said that several teams of state police are conducting raids to nub Prashant Natt. “We have recreated the crime scene and narrowed down the people who went and killed the Inspector — Natt was part of that group. We have almost cracked the case of the inspector’s killing”, he added.
Till now, it was suspected that Yogesh Raj was behind the killing of the inspector in the mob lynching case that took place on 3rd of December. However, ADG Kumar told ET that while Yogesh was involved in getting people to the scene, instigating the crowd and even arguing with the inspector and the circle officer in the police station, he is not a suspect in the inspector’s killing.
Earlier in a video message, Yogesh put forward his side of the story stating, “I want to tell all of you that two incidents occurred that day. The first incident was of cow slaughter at Mahav village near Syana. I had reached the spot after hearing about the incident. Administrative officials were also there. After resolving the matter, we had moved to Syana police station to get an FIR lodged. While I was at the police station I came to know that villagers indulged in stone-pelting and there was firing as well in which a youth and a police officer were hit. Why would Bajrang Dal engage in any demonstration after the demand for an FIR (about cow slaughter) was met?” He further added, “In the second incident, I was not present on the spot. I have got nothing to do with it. I am confident that the Almighty will get me justice. Thank you.”
The police investigation so far shows that the trigger for the inspector’s killing appears to be the shot fired at a person named Sumit in the enraged crowd. Sumit later succumbed to his injuries. Three-four people, including Natt, are suspected to have been near the police jeep in the fields when the inspector was shot dead. The police force hasn’t been able to recover the inspector’s licensed pistol yet, with which he may have been shot, or any of his three mobile phones, which Natt is suspected to have taken with him.
Our mainstream media, who are well known for vulture journalism latched on to this news piece to regurgitate their tried and tested Hindutva terror angle. They have been proven wrong again like they were in similar cases earlier. Now the media doesn’t want to touch this case with a 10-foot-pole as they have no specific agenda to pursue in this case. We have seen their biased reporting in the case of Petrol price hikes as well when they went mum after the prices nosedived, although these two are very dissimilar cases but are good case studies to understand how Media leaves no stone unturned in using a news piece to defame Hindus or the incumbent BJP government. But truth has just one version and it almost always finds a way to show itself!
