On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on senior Congress leader Kamal Nath. Yogi was campaigning in Madhya Pradesh elections as BJP’s star campaigner. While addressing a rally in Bhopal CM Yogi said, “I read Kamal Nath’s statement in which he said that they don’t want the votes of SC/ST people, the Congress only needs Muslim votes. Kamal Nathji, keep your Ali, Bajrangbali is enough for us.”

CM Yogi gave this statement in response to a viral video of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief and senior leader Kamal Nath in which he can be seen highlighting the importance of Muslim votes for the Congress party. In the video Kamal Nath can be seen saying, “If we don’t get 90% Muslim votes then we will face a huge loss. We have the numbers. You know where the Muslims votes. You have to take care where those votes were cast. If we have received fewer votes then what are the reasons behind it. You have to postmortem the reasons behind it.” Kamal Nath reiterated this argument and declared that even 80% of the Muslim votes would be insufficient and went on to add that the grand old party needs at least 90% of the Muslim votes. He added that the party leaders should do everything that they can. What is even more shocking is the fact that he unabashedly stated that this should be done before the election code of conduct comes into force.

CM Yogi is famous for not mincing words and wears his Hindu identity on his sleeves. He seems to be a perfect antidote to Congress’ minority appeasement policy. That is the reason why after MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, UP CM Yogi is in demand to campaign in the state than other leaders of the party. The BJP candidates have demanded the rallies of CM Yogi as star campaigner in Burhanpur, Mandsaur, Nagda and other places that need the Hindutva touch.
CM Yogi has become a nightmare for many opposition leaders. His presence in election is no less than an eyesore for the opposition. Voters of states such as Tripura, Gujarat and Karnataka have already put the stamp on his acceptability and image as a firebrand speaker. CM Yogi’s hard stance on criminals and his approach towards development of UP have further boosted his credentials. CM Yogi, with his Hindutva image, would definitely evoke the emotions of people in the upcoming state assembly elections. BJP hopes that Yogi’s presence in these states would result in the consolidation of Hindu votes. His campaigning skills are set to help the BJP in these poll bound states as well as in the 2019 general elections.
The Madhya Pradesh assembly elections will be held on November 28 and the results are to be declared on December 11.
