The entire opposition and particularly the Congress Party president Rahul Gandhi seem infuriated by the kind of popularity that prime minister Modi and the BJP are enjoying. Therefore, to create an issue against the sitting government and malign it, Rahul Gandhi concocted a lie. He alleged that India’s Rafale deal is a scam. This is despite Rahul Gandhi or anyone in the opposition not having an iota of evidence to prove any financial misappropriation or embezzlement in the crucial defense deal.
Even after being exposed time and again for speaking this lie, Rahul Gandhi tweeted about the Congress Working Committee meeting and stated that the highlight of the meeting was former Defense Minister Antony’s description of the supposed Rafale scam: robbery in which Rs. 1,30,000 crore were stolen from India and given to a friend who was Rs. 45,000 crore in debt.

It is ridiculous how Rahul Gandhi and his minions are concocting this lie and alleging financial misappropriation without any evidence whatsoever. This only shows uncontrollable political desperation on the part of the Congress. The Congress president tweeted this awkward allegation believing that he will be able to malign the government and no will confront him. However, he was in for a rude shock even as the minister for information and broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore gave him a stern reply on Twitter. Rathore made it clear that the fake news propagated by Rahul Gandhi cuts no ice among Indians. Rathore also elaborated on how the Gandhi family has always looted India through defense deals. Rathore shed light on how the family began making money with trucks, graduated to guns (Bofors scam), helicopters (Augusta Westland), submarines and more. Furthermore, Rathore also stated how the Congress has no respect for military personnel and institutions. He reminded Rahul that it is the same party which keeps politicizing and insulting Army chiefs, which denied the OROP and mocked the surgical strikes. It is quite clear that the president of such a party has no moral right to speak on this sensitive issue.

This is not for the first time that Rahul Gandhi has been caught red handed lying about the Rafale deal and peddling a fake narrative about it. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was found lying brazenly about the Rafale deal during the no confidence motion on the floor of the lower house of Parliament. At that time, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the present defense minister was lying when she said that details of the deal could not be disclosed due to a security agreement between India and France. In a disgrace to the entire nation, France had to issue a clarification and condemn Rahul Gandhi’s irresponsible and malicious remarks. France made it clear that there is a 2008 security agreement between India and France which legally binds the two states to protect classified information provided by the partner that could impact security and operational capabilities of defense equipment and the operational capabilities of Indian and French defense equipment. The French president had also given an interview on March 9th this year in which he made it clear that when a detail is very sensitive, they cannot disclose it.
The fact remains that there was no misappropriation or irregularity in the entire deal and therefore, Rahul Gandhi’s claims about the deal are falling flat. However, no one is going to buy his claims, which seem to be merely a figment of his imagination.
