The suspect nabbed by the special cell, Oinam Ibochouba Singh also known as Khoirangba is the acting chairman of the Manipur based banned organisation, Kangleipak Communist Party. The police sources have revealed that Khoirangba was planning an assassination attempt on the life of the Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh. Nongthombam Biren Singh is the first CM of the state from the Bharatiya Janata Party and he has been in position since March 15, 2017. DCP Sanjeev Yadav headed the special cell team which arrested the alleged terrorist on Tuesday, extreme care was taken in nabbing the target since the Manipur CM was in Delhi on Tuesday. Any lapse on the part of the special cell team members could have led to a ghastly assassination attempt on the CM of Manipur Nongthombam Biren Singh. Khoirangba had released an audio clip earlier in August in which he was heard announcing his plans to assassinate the CM and three other ministers of his cabinet within one month. The audio clip released by Khoirangba had been widely circulated and it made the cops launch a manhunt for the alleged terrorist. DCP Sanjeev Yadav said, “We recently received inputs from Manipur Police about the suspect hiding in Delhi, A special team led by ACP Sanjay Dutt began tracking him, and we also found that he had last set up a base in Sanauli area on the Indo-Nepal border.” The Delhi Police got a tip off from their counterparts in Manipur regarding Khoirangba and this led to the police personnel being stationed in areas like Munirka and Kotla in South Delhi. The team received a tip off on August 28 which made clear that the suspect would be in Kotla Mubarakpur to meet one of his associates. Following which a special cell team was formed which nabbed the alleged terrorist near a temple.
Khoirangba after his arrest revealed that he had earlier too been arrested by the Assam Police in 2010 under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and had spent some time in jail too. The Special cell team had earlier arrested the top leader of the KCP, Laishram Meetei and Ranjeet Singh Porai after numerous terror incidents. There is no doubt about the fact that the Police is doing an excellent job but what is saddening is the way in which the terrorist and naxal sympathiser come up in a group to protest against the arrest and detention of their members. A significant presence in mainstream media houses enables them to disrupt the working of the security personnel. It is important to raise our collective voices today so that these terrorists face punishment for their ghastly deeds and plots. Communists and their supporters are a threat to this country and they are increasingly becoming a threat to democracy and democratically elected leadership in India. An evil which is necessary to nip in the bud to assure that calmness and peace is maintained in the country.
