In Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh, two Sadhus were lynched to death and another injured inside a temple premises by an unidentified man.The victims were identified as Lajja Ram (65) and Halke Ram (53). Another Sadhu, Ram Sharan (56), suffered many serious injuries and now he is in very critical condition. Avinash Chandra, Additional DG (Kanpur range), said that the sadhus were found lying in a pool of blood with many stab wounds on their necks and other body parts inside the Bhayanak Nath temple in Kudarkot. Inspector General of Police (Kanpur range), Alok Singh said, “People were generally complaining that the area where the murders took place was witnessing cases of cow slaughter and the victims were opposing it. That could be a possible motive behind the attack.”
These gruesome murders are not an isolated event but a part of an epidemic of killings perpetrated by cow smugglers but while the self-orchestrated attack on a member of tukde-tukde gang gets 24*7 media coverage and other incidents of lynchings are highlighted again and again by agenda-driven media, these violent acts by cow smugglers are often ignored for some secular reasons. The very same media, which outraged for over more than a month when few stones were thrown at a Church before Delhi elections by few rowdy people, has now maintained a stoic silence on the lynching of the innocent Sadhus.

The silence by few sections of media extends support to cow-smugglers, gives them confidence to kill anyone who opposes them. The media and the liberal camp are only vocal about the cow-vigilantes but ignorant about the cow smugglers. Recently, British-resident Sonia Sharma and her friend Archie Barnwal, were shot by cow smugglers, when these two brave women tried to save the cows that were tied and were clearly stuffed into a small vehicle.
Jun 2016: Two unidentified cattle-smugglers shot and killed a 16-year old minor girl called Nirdesh Singh of Ahmadabad village, when she caught them stealing her cattle from her backyard barn.
Jun 2016: A 35-year old Dalit man called Dinesh Kumar was killed by cattle-smugglers when they crushed him under their cattle-laden truck because he tried to stop them from stealing his cow. The incident happened in Firozabad district.
Aug 2016: 56-year old Head Constable Triloki Tiwari was killed by cow smugglers when they drove a vehicle over him carrying cattle and cows. The incident happened at Sarai Pokhta outpost in Jaunpur.
August 2016: 70 Cows died during illegal smuggling in Amravati due to poor treatment, suffocation and lack of food and water.
Nov 2016: 20-year old Yasoda, the resident of Asrauli village of Dehat Kotwali area of Etah, was murdered by unidentified cattle-smugglers who shot her when she caught them red-handed trying to steal her buffaloes from the barn. The incident took place around 3 AM.
June 2017: 45-years old Charan Singh of Kotrekapura village under Nibohra police station was shot twice by a group of cow smugglers when he nabbed one of them while they were trying to steal his cattle.
The above incidents proves that there are more crimes done by the cattle-smugglers than the supposed misdeeds done by the cow-vigilantes. These gruesome murder incidents highlight the fact that cow smugglers are violent gang of criminals which needs to be exterminated. The government should take strong steps to eliminate the gang of cow smugglers and their coteries in the media.
