Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat initiative is a very unique one. In his show, he talks about a number of things concerning the lives of common people of India. A wide range of issues gets space in PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat be it related to climate change, festivals, food wastage, drug abuse, road safety, girl child education, women empowerment etc.
PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat is very popular among the people. He acknowledges and appreciates the efforts made by common men to bring change in the society and the country. He also appreciates and congratulates athletes, youths and students for their achievements. In the 46th episode of Mann Ki Baat PM Modi appreciated and congratulated Asharam Choudhary who despite coming from a very poor family made it to one of the most prestigious colleges of the country. PM Modi said, “I came across news of a student, Asharam Choudhary, from Madhya Pradesh belonging to an extremely poor family. He cleared the exam in the first attempt to get admission in MBBS at Jodhpur AIIMS. His father is a rag-picker. I congratulate him on his success.”
Mr Asharam Choudhary is the son of a rag-picker from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. He cleared the AIIMS entrance exam in his first attempt and has secured 707th all-India rank. Asharam told The Hindu, “There are some gaps in the roof from where sun rays and rain drops easily seeps into our house. The adversities have never deterred me from continuing my studies. This was my first attempt [in AIIMS entrance test] and my teachers at Navodaya Vidyalaya, especially Amit sir [his Biology teacher], guided me in clearing the exam.”
Jodhpur AIIMS Director, Sanjeev Misra along with his entire team extolled Asharam Choudhary. He also promised him of all the cooperation from the college and also added that they were all proud to have him in the college. Mr Sanjeev Misra said, “We have decided to provide him books and other required things from AIIMS considering his achievement and financial condition.”
PM Modi recognized many more students who did not let their weak financial background to stop them from achieving their goals. PM Modi said, “There are many examples, Prince Kumar, Delhi whose father is a DTC bus driver, Abhay Gupta, Kolkata who studied under street lights or Afreen Sheikh, Ahmedabad whose father is an auto driver, all of them with their strong will & determination overcame hurdles & achieved success.”

PM Modi, while praising students coming from the very poor background, said, “There are many instances of students from deprived families who, through sheer determination & perseverance, overcame all odds and stood out to be beacons of inspiration to others.” Such achievers are no less than a role model and youth icons.
PM Modi also applauded athletes who made the country proud. He said, “Just a few days ago, in Junior U-20 World Athletics Championship, India’s brave daughter Hima Das made history by winning gold medal in 400m race event. Ekta Bhyan, another daughter of the country, has won gold & bronze medals in World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2018.”
Such recognition and appreciations can go in a long in inspiring and motivating people, especially when it comes from one of the tallest world leaders and the Prime Minister of the world’s largest democracy. It also motivates other people to work harder and become a role model for the society.
