Reliance Entertainment and Friday Filmworks’ Plan C studio announced their next film is going to be based on the life and teachings of eminent and evergreen teacher, philosopher, economist, political thinker and royal advisor- Chanakya. Chanakya played a pivotal role in establishing the Maurya dynasty and had authored ancient Indian political treatise ‘Arthashastra’ which has relevance in the modern times as well. He also wrote Neetishashtra, famously known as Chanakya Niti. He is considered as the pioneer of field of Political Science and Economics in India.
Chanakya was the one who united the Indian kingdoms against the attack of foreign invaders. He was the one who evoked the sense of Nationalism among the people and imbibed the minds of the people with the idea that Rajya (state of nation) is paramount. He is counted among the greatest political minds of the world. His ideas are gaining prominence again and as it is said no one can stop an idea whose time has arrived. His words and his ideas holds true in our life even today.
Neeraj Pandey will direct the movie and superstar Ajay Devgun will be playing the role of Chanakya. Commenting on the film Neeraj Pandey said, “I have been developing this film on Chanakya for quite some time now. It’s an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure the audience will love Ajay in his portrayal of the visionary genius.” Neeraj Pandey is a talented director. He has directed super hit films like A Wednesday, Special 26, Baby and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. He also served as a producer in Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom movie. Considering the past good works of Neeraj Pandey it is not wrong to expect that he would definitely do justice with the movie based on Chanakya. Earlier also, television serial based on Chankaya have been well received. Most famous is the one directed by Chandra Prakash dwivedi in 1991 in which he also played the lead role of the political strategist, Chanakya.

In modern times, ideas of Chanakya have become increasingly relevant. Movies are powerful medium for educating the citizens. There can be no better medium than a movie to expose the citizens to the ideas and works of Chankaya. India wants to become a world leader and 65% population of India is youth. A country like India full of such youth energy needs a guidance of ideas of Chanakya. He converted a no one into one of the greatest emperor of the world. Chanakaya’s ideas are all about leadership, management and training.
