Today one of the most significant diplomatic event took place. Two staunch rivals threatening each other of full-fledged nuclear war are now meeting in Singapore in hope to secure peace in the Korean peninsula and in the rest of the world. Supreme leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un commits to the ‘complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula’. Both USA and North Korea agreed to establish new relations to build long lasting peace. US President Donald Trump praised Kim Jong. He said, “Kim Jong Un has the chance to seize a better future for his country. Anyone can make war but only the most courageous can make peace.”

The Historic Trump-Kim summit is still going on successfully as of now. Two Singapore Minister of Indian origins played a great role in ensuring the success of this historical attempt to pave the way for peace. They have worked relentlessly behind the scenes. Foreign Minister of Singapore, Mr Vivian Balakrishnan , shuttled between Beijing, Washington DC and Pyongyang to ensure things go satisfactorily as planned. He was also a part of the delegation which received Kim Jong Un upon his arrival at Changi Airport, Singapore. While speaking to BBC, Mr Balakrishnan said, “the summit comes after 70 years of suspicion, war and diplomatic failures.” He also added, “This is not the way conventional diplomacy would have been conducted, but perhaps you need two very unconventional leaders to have brought us to this stage.” He also said, “They may be able to pull rabbits out of a hat that the rest of us conventional diplomats would not have been able to do.” Mr Balkrishnan further informed that Singapore is looking after the Bills of North-Korean delegation at Trump-Kim summit. He has described the Trump-Kim summit as the “most significant security operation” in Singapore. Singapore is among the only few of those countries which have diplomatic relations with both USA and North Korea.
Singapore Minister for Law and Home Affairs, Mr K Shanmugam, took the responsibility to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the summit from the security point of view. On Sunday, he said, “The fact that we prepared this in two weeks, this adds to logistics demands by officers who worked around the clock.” He added, “We are confident that we have put security in place. We have 5,000 Home Team officers such as police and emergency response teams like civil defense.” He also revealed that four people have been turned away at Singapore’s immigration checkpoints in the lead-up to the summit. He was speaking at the Security briefing.
These are the silent unsung heroes who are working behind the stage in order to make the world a more peaceful and a better place to live. They have taken forward the Indian legacy, to work for peace and betterment of the world.
