Almost all separatist leaders from Kashmir have been found guilty of extracting money from India and using it for anti-India purposes. They have no shame in accepting these facts and show their hypocrisy when their funds get strangled. All Parties Hurriyat Conference and its leaders have been notorious for extracting money and amenities from Indian governments in the past while they simultaneously fuel separatist sentiments in the Kashmir valley.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani are leaders of the two factions of Hurriyat in Kashmir. Both of them are equally guilty of carrying out these activities whenever they get the chance. The defense which comes from their party leaders for accepting funds from India ranges from humorous to outrageous. Senior separatist leader from the Geelani faction of the Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Nabi Sumji had released a statement of this kind recently. In an interview given to Rising Kashmir, Sumji said, “We are at war with India against its military presence here. But pension and arrears are my right and why should I leave it.” Sumji has earlier served as an MLA from Shalibag constituency of Anantnag , having won the seat fighting the elections from the Muslim United Front.
Sumji went on to say, “But I am taking the pension as an ex-MLA. I have no plans to give up my pension. It becomes my right. It is no charity by someone on me. Since I was an MLA, so it is my right,” It is important to note here that Sumji is one of the wealthiest separatist leaders from Hurriyat. He had applied for the pension along with arrears in 2015, citing that he came to know of the increased pension benefits from his MLA friend. The thought of letting go of his pension and other benefits became unbearable for him after the news of the 7th pay commission being implemented retrospectively from January 2016 came out. The letter written to Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly reads, “Sir, with due respect I beg to submit that pension of ex-MLAs has been revised and the arrear dues have been released by the Act. It is therefore prayed that my increased pension along with arrear dues be released in my favour. The photocopies are attached”.
This pathetic letter written by the desperate Kashmiri separatist leader exposes the nature of Hurriyat and their leaders. These leaders work day and night to misguide the youth of Kashmir while they rip off the government by suddenly pretending to be civil servants. Their own kith and kin enjoy the privileges reserved for the elite while the ordinary youth of Kashmir pick up weapons and go to graves as a result of misguidance given by these separatists. They also take monetary funding from Pakistan for recruiting youth and pushing them down the line of terrorism. Sumji, just like any other separatist leader, is a conman and a two faced bigot who specializes in pushing others’ children to graves.
Demanding rights from a nation which he wants to secede from exposes his hypocrisy and shrewdness. Hurriyat and its leaders are leeches who are sucking away the life of Kashmiri youth and our armed forces, along with the money of Indian tax payers as well. Ceasing the arrears of politicians or ex-politicians with openly seditious leanings would definitely help the Indian government in solving the Kashmir problem efficiently and swiftly.
