Tensions are soaring in the Kashmir valley after the death of Kashmiri youth, Kaiser Bhat. Kaiser Bhat suffered severe injuries when he got caught below the CRPF vehicle which was speeding away from the angry mob. Kaiser Bhat succumbed to his injuries at midnight in the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) in Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir government has wrongly chosen to side with the stone pelters while the CRPF personnel have been booked under RPC. The incidents which led to the death of Kaiser Bhat were gruesome ones, first the stone pelting on the armed forces vehicle followed by an attempt by the driver to run away with the vehicle which led to the death of Kaiser. While it was unfortunate that a young person had to lose his life, it has enabled the people to raise questions against the Hurriyat leadership of both Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Shah Geelani. A video has surfaced from the valley today where a relative of the deceased is seen questioning the Hurriyat conference and their hypocritical style of politics. The relative of the deceased is questioning a delegation sent by the Hurriyat leaders to the victim’s family.

The video begins with the relative venting his heart out in front of the Hurriyat delegation which has arrived to express condolences and to hail the deceased as a martyr. The relative raises several important questions. He calls out Geelani for calling the two sisters as role model for scoring well in exams when it was Geelani who had appealed to the people of Kashmir to not send their children in missionary run private schools in the valley. It should be noted that Syed Geelani’s relatives have all been living outside the valley where they get the most modern education in the best colleges round the globe. Geelani and other Hurriyat leaders advise Kashmiri families not to give their children modern education and insight them to join anti-India activities while their own kith and kin enjoy the best life in India and abroad. The relative of the deceased also challenges the Hurriyat leaders about the motive behind displaying the body of the dead youth instead of taking it to the burial grounds as soon as possible. The politics played over the dead bodies too is an old ploy by the Hurriyat and other separatist factions in the Kashmir valley which it uses to lure more people to join separatist groups.
The relative also points out that it is not just shameful but also against the Islamic law to delay burial of a deceased person. He further goes on to ask what good is the deceased for them anymore, the sisters of the deceased what did they have now? He accuses the Hurriyat of misleading the Kashmiri youth by showing them the dream of separate Kashmir and sovereignty while they polish off all the good things for themselves. The relative himself accepts to have been a supporter of the Hurriyat in his earlier days but seems to now have grown wary of them.
The questions raised today by the relative of Kaisar show that reality has finally started to dawn on the minds of the Kashmiri people. We hope that Kashmiris begin to see the true nature of their politicians and shun them as soon as possible. These questions raised by Kaisar’s relative today will continue to be raised in the future by a great many people from Kashmir. Hurriyat one day will have to shut shop and leave the path of misleading Kashmiris. We just hope that the day arrives without further losses on either side.
