The spate of violence by the Trinamool Congress workers against BJP workers seems to be continuing unopposed in West Bengal. The series of violent attacks on BJP workers which started before the campaigning process is still going on even after the results of the Panchayat elections are out. TMC emerged as the single largest party and succeeded in winning the largest number of seats in the panchayat polls. BJP emerged as the second largest party in the elections beating Communist Party of India (CPI M). The emergence of BJP in the political scenario in West Bengal, despite the vile methods used by TMC to dissuade BJP candidates, has infuriated the party workers of Mamata Banerjee’s TMC. The tacit approval they receive from their supreme leader has further emboldened them to carry out the killings of one BJP worker after another. In less than a week, two BJP workers had been murdered by TMC workers. News broke out yesterday that a BJP worker was shot at in Cooch Behar region of West Bengal. The ANI has reported that the victim Narayan Sarkar was a BJP supporter from the Cooch Behar area. He is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siliguri.
This latest attack on a BJP worker is the third of its kind which started with the hanging of Purulia’s Supurdi on May 31st. Trilochan Mahto, member of the district BJP youth wing was found hanging with a message on his T-shirt proclaiming that his death was a result of him being a BJP supporter. The second incident took place in Dabha village of Balarampur area where the body of 32 year old Dulal Kumar was found hanging. Both of the murdered men were BJP supporters and had been targeted for the same reason. Narayan Sarkar too had been shot at for the same reason as the two above cases- he was a BJP supporter, enough reason to kill for according to the TMC goons. These three cases have happened in under a week after the polls, but these are not the only cases of ‘political murders’ committed in West Bengal in recent times. As many as 14 people had lost their lives in the campaigning and poll process, and while most of them were BJP workers and supporters, some of them even belonged to other opposition parties like the CPI(M).
Even Communist Party of India (Marxist) has taken to Twitter to explain how the TMC goons, emboldened by Mamata Banerjee’s tacit approval have indulged in vendetta politics.

Mamata Banerjee and her ambitions know no bounds; she wants to become the Prime Minister but cannot even manage her own thugs in the state. The law and order situation in West Bengal is deteriorating day by day and she is doing nothing to stop the violence directed at opposition party members. Her brand of accusatory politics is failing her when her own party leaders and workers are at fault. Her silence and her ‘able’ aide and party leader Derek o Brien’s brushing off the gruesome incidents as just statistics exposes her style of governance. Had these murders occurred in a saffron-ruled state the opposition would not have shied away from calling out these planned killings. BJP should keep aside its West Bengal ambitions for a while and simply impose President rule in West Bengal to weed out the intolerant and communal TMC goons from the state.
