AAP is again in news as usual for all the wrong reasons. A few days ago, senior leader of AAP and Punjab leader Sukhpal Khaira had supported a referendum for Khalistan. Khaira reportedly said, “I support the Sikh referendum 2020 movement as Sikhs have the right to demand justice against atrocities suffered by them”.
Referendum 2020 is a secessionist movement demanding separate homeland for the Sikhs called Khalistan. A website called Referendum 2020 reads- “Actively and peacefully advocating the call given by SFJ to hold referendum for Sikhs’ right to self determination and to liberate Indian Occupied Punjab”. The words “Indian Occupied Punjab” suggest that the main idea of Referendum 2020 is to liberate only the Indian Punjab for the Sikhs, while the Referendum does not show any concern about the Pakistani Punjab or towards Pakistani Sikhs who are evidently living a more miserable life than their Indian brothers. The pro-Khalistan movement has always been silent about Pakistani Sikhs. The only reason could be that Pakistan is actively helping the pro-Khalistan movement.
The central leadership of Aam Aadmi Party pretended as if it is upset about it, considering the fact that Arvind Kejriwal has spent a night at the residence of a Khalistani terrorist. But, in a major embarrassment to AAP, their NRI unit extended their support to the Khaira’s demand of justice for the Sikhs. NRI’s supporting the demand for Khalistan is not new. It is an open secret that most of the Khalistani supports operates from outside India from countries like England, Australia, America and Canada. Some of the Khalistani elements are in the good book with the current Canadian government and holds important government positions. ISI is also working to revive the Khalistan movement through various foreign channels.
AAP’s NRI unit supporting Khaira doesn’t come as a surprise at all. It once more exposed the mentality of AAP and what kind of people AAP supports and hobnobs with. One should thank Punjab for not electing AAP to power. Former state DGP of Punjab, KPS Gill had rightly said that AAP is providing a platform to radicals in Punjab. Gill said, “Radical Sikh diaspora are very disappointed over what they could not achieve earlier. Now with Aam Aadmi Party there is influx of them from foreign countries. They think this is the opportunity which is very good for them and they would be able to create a big base from which to operate”. KPS Gill has played a pivotal role in ending terrorism in Punjab.
Meanwhile, Punjab’s Chief Minister Amarinder Singh condemned Sukhpal Khaira’s statement supporting secessionism and also asked AAP supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to clarify his stand on his party’s leader support for pro-Khalistan referendum 2020.

Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh also said, “Referendum is imagination of people abroad. Everybody knows there is no referendum in Punjab. We want peace in Punjab, peace means stability, peace means everything should happen normally”.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and the Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal demanded that Arvind Kejriwal should sack Khaira for supporting secessionism. She is right in her demand, if Arvind Kejriwal does not support referendum 2020 and he had never accepted any sort of donation from the Khalistani elements then he should immediately sack Sukhpal Khaira.
