The Frank, Meddlesome and Irritating Rajdeep Sardesai has a long history of needling interviewees on his talk shows. And he gets it back from them almost every single time. From Raj Thackeray to PM Modi to Mukesh Ambani to Amitabh Bachchan to Sania Mirza to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, Rajdeep has a unique reputation of getting bashed by one and all. Today Smriti Irani gave him, a piece of her mind.

In Gujarat, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party did it again. Despite an anti-incumbency of over 2 decades and a rainbow caste coalition engineered by Congress Party, BJP won the Gujarat Election with a comfortable margin and will be forming the government again. As per the last available trends, BJP has maintained its edge on about 99 out of 182 seats. The Congress, up significantly from last time was leading in as many as 81 seats. The BJP had 115 seats in the 2012 assembly elections and the Congress had won 61 of them. In Himachal Pradesh, BJP is going to form the government too. In Himachal Pradesh, BJP completely destroyed the Congress and seems poised to take 44 seats home. Congress will have to be content with only 20 seats in the hill state. Analysts, intellectuals, psephologists of all kinds and spokespersons and prominent leaders of both the parties descended on TV studios in Delhi. Union Minister Smriti Irani was on India today to give her reaction as well. Rajdeep known for prodding his guests unnecessarily tried his tricks with Smriti Irani as well. Smriti Irani has a reputation of owning her opponents and that’s exactly what she did to senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai too.
When it was clear that BJP is going to form the government in both the states, Smriti Irani was invited to give her reaction. Smriti Irani congratulated the BJP top leadership, leaders and workers for the impressive show. But Rajdeep Sardesai kept prodding her needlessly. Rajdeep kept reminding Smriti Irani that BJP got less number of seats than the last time (while comfortably forgetting its vote share increase). Rajdeep also mentioned that it must be worrying signal for the Party, to which Smriti Irani replied in her typical destructive way.
Smriti Irani said that Rajdeep Sardesai should stop worrying about her party (BJP) and instead worry about his organization, which has recently appointed Rahul Gandhi as its president. Thereby implying that Rajdeep is a Congress agent in the garb of a neutral journalist.
