PETA – an anti-India, anti-Hindu organization that needs to be banned right now

Sometimes, I don’t know what is worse: the word IRONY or the folks making the joke out of IRONY itself. We have a Democratic People’s Republic of Korea that is hardly democratic. We have an Aam Aadmi Party, which never caters to the common man, though it fiercely claims so. We even have the Democrat Party, which had apparently made democracy a rude joke in United States of America, had Donald Trump not taken up politics as his hobby!

Into this ironic list steps in an organization, which apparently seems to care for animals, but in reality, is far from the same? Slowly, but steadily, this organization has shed its original cloak of protecting animals, into directly messing with the Indian culture, and selectively targeting the native customs of India, in the name of protecting animals. The name is ironically PEOPLE FOR THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS, or simply, PETA, and the following is their evil game of destroying the native breeds of any country.

Outwardly, this organization seems to be formed with the aim of protecting animals. However, what Jallikattu episode has exposed, is their sinister plan of systematically destroying the indigenous culture of India, in every respect, and replace it with a mind numbing version of colonial supremacy, making most of the Indians apathetic, robotic humans in terms of emotion, or in short, slaves of either corporate or the more evil, Islamic Imperialism.

Following are some of the arguments put forward by PETA against Jallikattu:-

  • Jallikattu exploits bulls’ natural nervousness as prey animals by deliberately placing them in a terrifying situation in which they are forced to run away from those they perceive as predators.
  • As PETA India has documented in Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI)–authorised inspections, the bulls become so frightened by the mob of men who participate that they slip, fall, run into barriers and traffic – and even jump off cliffs in their desperate attempts to escape – frequently leading to broken bones or death.
  • Jallikattu participants purposely disorient the bulls by forcing them to consume alcohol; twist and bite their tails; stab and jab them with sickles, spears, knives and sticks; cause them intense pain by yanking their nose ropes; and punch them, jump on them and drag them to the ground.
  • PETA India has also documented that during races, bulls run because people hurt them. They’re hit with everything from bare hands to nail-studded sticks, and their tailbones are broken at each joint. This is as painful to the bulls as it would be to us if someone were to break our fingers joint by joint.

With that, PETA managed to persuade the pseudo liberals in the UPA II government, and some law custodians with vested interests, sitting then in the Honb. Supreme Court of India, in banning Jallikattu, without any valid grounds, first in 2014, and then upholding it in January 2016.

To begin with, I’m a North Indian, and I’m not very conversant with every single aspect of Indian culture. But once I heard of the massive protest in regards to saving Jallikattu, I researched deep, and found some startling facts, which make these flimsy, Wren and Martin bred arguments of PETA fall flat:-

  • “As PETA India has documented in Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI)–authorised inspections, the bulls become so frightened by the mob of men who participate that they slip, fall, run into barriers and traffic – and even jump off cliffs in their desperate attempts to escape – frequently leading to broken bones or death.” Man, may I know in which godforsaken place in Tamil Nadu is there a cliff, especially in the playing arena? Yes, Tamil Nadu comprises of significant hill stations, but the arena for Jallikattu are mostly flat, mud or soil based mats, on the lines of indigenous wrestling.
PETA, are you out of your minds? Jallikattu is one sport where you’re strictly banned to use anything other than your bare hands. Yes, jumping on them is existent, but in no circumstance would an authentic Jallikattu any of the allegations that you pose, though I’m not sure about the fake ones.
  • PETA India has also documented that during races, bulls run because people hurt them. Someone please give these dumb pseudo intellectuals lessons in common sense. If you make the bull eat things that invoke their anger, and leave them free, they’ll only charge at anybody who comes their way, just like mad elephants in a battle. Didn’t your COMRADES teach you this at school? Sorry, that would defeat the purpose altogether! In this context, given PETA’s logic, spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev ripped them apart, counter questioning them, ‘Players get injured with the dangerous ball of cricket, so should we ban the sport?’

Interestingly, the one thing that drives PETA behind banning Jallikattu, is the selective targeting of native, especially Hindu festivals and sports.

Have you ever noticed an outrage of a similar kind against Christian festivals like Thanksgiving, or Muslim festivals such as Bakreid? Kamal Haasan rightly said in his protest, that if you wish to ban Jallikattu on the grounds of animal slaughter, ban biryani too. If I go by statistics, there’s more to PETA than what meets the eye, as noted below:-

  • They stay dormant for most of the year, except when any Hindu festival is around the corner. Name it, and PETA will start demonstrations against the same. By that logic, today they banned Jallikattu, next they’ll ban Diwali, then one day PETA, in collusion with dishonest bureaucracy, will ban us from hoisting the national flag, just because it hurts the sentiments of minorities and scaring off innocent animals, it pollutes the secular environment. Are we that dumb to not sniff this?
  • Most of these PETA workers, including celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, don’t even know the J of Jallikattu, and talk of banning the sport, as evident in their arguments. Even one top official of PETA, Poorva Joshipura, has admitted the same when asked on this issue.

To be specific,  while no tradition should be stuck to the malice of dogma, if it doesn’t harm anybody, who has given the authority to jerks like PETA in messing with it? If you fight for a valid cause, we’re ready to throw the weight behind, but if PETA messes with genuine Indian culture, in no way should we allow them to succeed. If Tamilians can be united against poky and grumpy PETA, so can the rest of India as well.
