Are you ready for an Arnab Vs Barkha boxing match?

26th January 2017 will probably go down as a watershed moment in the history of Indian journalism, when Arnab Goswami, the sole voice of the alt right wing and logical journalists [whose breed in INDIA is rather endangered], would launch his own media venture, Republic. Likewise, on the same lines, the blue eyed girl of left liberals of the dominant narrative in India, Barkha Dutt has quit her den, NDTV, after working for more than 20 years for this channel.

The question does arise, who will be the ultimate boss in the media circles. Will it be the ‘loudmouth’ Arnab, who is driven more by emotions and hard facts, or will it be the wily Barkha, whose smooth diction on the English language enables her in allegedly giving cover to the terrorists, whether in 26/11 or back in Kargil, and even go to the extent of justifying their actions, like she did for the Kashmiri insurgents, who wreaked havoc on the Kashmiri Hindus, especially the Kashmiri Pandit community, as well as the Sikhs, in the unfortunate year of 1990.

To begin with, Arnab and Barkha are two flowers of the same branch.  Not many know this, but even Arnab Goswami once worked with NDTV, and along with journalists like Rajdeep Sardesai, was extremely popular for his bold stance on current issues and his firm narrative regarding the framework in which journalism should operate.  From 1998 – 2003, Arnab’s Newshour, which was broadcasted on a weekly basis , was a rage in televised journalism in India. Had ideological confrontation not cut his career in NDTV short, Arnab could have been much above Barkha Dutt in NDTV itself.

However, a sudden turnaround in 2015, post the intolerance drama, brought out the straightforward, opinion based journalist in Arnab. From pitching for NDA government, to lambasting the pseudo liberals and intellectual terrorists, including his arch nemesis Barkha Dutt for her biased coverage of issues as well. Congress party has still not forgiven Mr. Goswami for making a laughing stock of their unquestionable patron, Raul Vinci, or as Indian folks knows him, Mr. Rahul Rajiv Gandhi. As such, his sudden resignation from TIMES NOW, to launch his own venture, would without doubt send ripples in the journalism sector.

So if Arnab takes Barkha head on in the battle of journalism, who do you think would win the battle of Prime Time? Yes, it would be too hasty to draw conclusions right now, but the ‘Angry Young Man of Indian Journalism’ has his own perks, which put him at a strategic advantage over the unofficial spokesperson of Pakistan sponsored Salafi Islamic terrorists, as noted below:-

  • Barkha Dutt is already an eyesore for the emerging Indian youth, who are being awakened at the altar of cold facts and statements through the two faced weapon of social media. Arnab Goswami, who if not an alt right journalist by heart, would even have been a shrewd taskmaster, was quick enough to gauge the mood of the majority in India, is now the blue eyed boy of alternative ideologies in India, who want to breathe, even when everyone else in the dominant narrative is hell bent to not let them do so.
  • If you couldn’t understand the above statement, Arnab Goswami will himself simplify the same. Castigated for his loudmouth opinions, Arnab Goswami, in his Times Now tribute to the Kargil war heroes, launched a veiled attack on the intellectual terrorists, especially the likes of Barkha Dutt and Ravish Kumar, asking the Indian audience to expose the scumbags. In retaliation, Barkha axed her own foot, exposing herself in her Facebook status of the alleged crimes, that she had committed in the name of practicing journalism, including sending 10 soldiers of the Ghatak Platoon to their death in the Battle of Tiger Hill, or leading to the unfortunate death of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan in 26/11 attacks. In a way, Arnab Goswami knows the weak points of Barkha Dutt more than anyone else can even think of.
  • Besides, Arnab Goswami, however loudmouth, has no dark sides as of now, whereas Barkha Dutt has her own crimes to be exposed. Even though many of her stances have enraged the Indian youth, a lot is still to be exposed of this intellectual terrorist, who has duct taped herself as of now over the slut shaming of ‘Dangal’ starrer newbie Zaira Wasim. So one wrong step is enough for Arnab to bring the curtains down on this overrated journalist, and take over as the ultimate mogul of Indian journalism, which might possibly the much needed cleanup the ‘Fourth Pillar of Indian Democracy’ badly needs.

To sum up, with Barkha Dutt joining the league of Arnab Goswami, it would be interesting to see which way the battle goes.

Arnab Goswami, no matter how loudmouth and straightforward, has the hidden potential to revive the good old days of Indian journalism, and given how his new venture has already grabbed many an eyeball, it would be interesting whether Arnab can actually bring the change or not, and vanquish the Lutyens bred journalism, led by Barkha Dutt. Only time shall tell the actual truth. Let’s hope, in the words of famous Lt. Aldo Raine, Arnab gives Barkha Dutt ‘something which she can’t take off!’
