You seriously need nerves of steel to take a decision as bold as Narendra Modi’s move of demonetizing Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 bank notes. While the masses are pumped, ready to do their bit for strengthening the idea of INDIA, the culprits, especially the flag bearers of the notorious anti INDIA cartel of pseudo liberals and intellectual terrorists, are at their wit’s loss, mouthing nonsense in their defense, and apparently in the support of the common people, whom they would normally care a damn about.
However, it seems the war on black money, is not yet over. Modi, in his aim to weed out the menace of black money and corruption from INDIA has decided to clamp down on the notorious Benami transactions, after his revolutionary move of demonetization has put the economy of India on a roller coaster.
In a speech post the inauguration of Mopa Greenfield and the electronic city project in Goa, he declared the war on black money and corruption open, “This is not an end. I have more projects in mind to make India corruption-free. …. Cooperate with me and help me for 50 days and I will give you the India you desired.” Modi said in his Goa speech.
“…………We will take action against ‘benami’ property; this is major step to eradicate corruption and black money … If any money that was looted in India and has left Indian shores, it is our duty to find out about it,” he said.
“I know that (some) forces are up against me, they may not let me live, they may ruin me because their loot of 70 years is in trouble, but I am prepared,” Modi said in his Goa speech which saw him getting emotional a few times.
For the beginners, Benami transaction, or nameless transaction, is when a property is transferred to or held by a person, and the consideration of the property is provided by another person.
Simply put, Benami transaction is acquiring hold of a property in someone else’s name. A major source of black money in India, benami transactions had been a headache for the anti-corruption vigilantes.
Keeping that in mind, the Benami Transactions [Prohibition] Amendment Bill had been introduced in early 2015 by the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley. Having formulated into a legal act by August 2016, under this amended act, an offender, if found guilty, shall serve a prison sentence not less than a year, but can even extend upto seven years, with a fine levied of upto 25 % of the concerned property’s fair market value.
With his Goa Speech, Narendra Modi also expressed the desire of doing better for his country, even if it costs him his Prime Ministership and respect.
To quote him, “I know what kind of powers I have taken on. I know the kind of people who will be against me now. I am looting what they had accumulated over 70 years.
…………..They will not leave me alive. They will destroy me. Let them do what they want. Fifty days help me. The country should just help me for 50 days,” Modi added.
“This is not the end. This is not a full stop. I am openly saying, this is not a full stop.”
Even in a neutral opinion, one can deduce that what Narendra Modi decided against black money was not on the spur of a moment. He knows the consequences very well, and like a true leader, is ready to face the consequences, even if it costs him his post in 2019 (which now would be entirely the fault of us common folks, should that ever happen). If I’m not wrong, Modi is now turning out to be the political Neelkanth, a risk taker, who is ready to put the power of BJP led NDA at risk for the betterment of the nation. If we ever lose him as the Prime Minister, it is INDIA’s loss. We already lost one charming PM in 1966; let’s not repeat the same mistake again!
