How Manohar Parrikar and Gen VK Singh defused the opposition’s OROP bomb?

If there is something that one would love to remember in the Narendra Modi government, it is his selection of two ‘politically incorrect’ ministers, who had the audacity to be politically incorrect. It really takes guts to call a spade a spade, and to be unfair to some to be fair to the others. But for the first time, INDIA can proudly say that we have two such ministers, sitting in some of the most important portfolios. Their names are, General [Retd.] Vijay Kumar Singh and Manohar Parrikar.

Manohar Parrikar and VK Singh hold the portfolio of Minister of Overseas and External Affairs [Independent Charge] and the all important Defence Ministry respectively.

Both have had a whisker clean record, regarding their personal homework, as Chief of the Army Staff (2010-2012) and Chief Minister of Goa (2000 – 2005 & 2012 – 2014) respectively. Interestingly, both, with their unapologetically brutal stance on politics and service to people, have been on the radar of every notorious member of the anti INDIA cartel.

However, what has now set them completely apart from other cabinet ministers, is their brutally unapologetic statements on political affairs and extremely bold decisions regarding crucial issues. Just recently, an ex Army veteran, Subedar Ram Kishan Grewal, with questionable credentials, committed suicide on the apparent issue of nonpayment of pension under the One Rank One Pension Scheme. Within moments, every known and unknown pseudo secular politician pounced upon this opportunity to display their talent in the nadir of cannibalistic politics.

The lack of suitable defence from the government side was one of the reasons why they went on backfoot on the issues of intolerance and the suicide of Rohith Vemula. Keeping that in mind, General VK Singh, already an eyesore for the pseudo secular, anti INDIA cartel, reported to the journalists that since Grewal had committed suicide, his mental state should be examined before jumping to the conclusions, like Rahul and Kejriwal were doing. Was this simple concern too much for the anti INDIA cartel?

Immediately, without losing any moment, the anti INDIA cartel, led by scallywags like Rahul Gandhi and the unofficial CHIEF MINISTER OF INDIA, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, mocked his concerns. However, as expected, none of them managed to delve into his statements, and some of his questions, which hold significance, as noted below:-

  • Apparently, as known from official sources, Ram Kishan Grewal had no such thought as of committing suicide. Rather, according to the villagers, he was quite happy, as he was on his mission to make himself heard by the Defence Minister and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. How in a matter of barely a day or two, was he provoked to commit suicide?
  • If he had submitted an application to the Defence Ministry of India, he could have waited for a day or two. How did Mr. Grewal come to the conclusion, that he would not be heard at all? Was someone there, who influenced him heavily in this context?
  • Later in his defense, VK Singh also questioned Mr. Grewal’s confirmed links with the Congress party, asking is the outrage a mere political gimmick. Looking into his credentials, VK Singh is not completely wrong either. Mr. Ram Kishan Grewal fought the election of a sarpanch on a local ticket, backed by the Congress party, and was also awarded for his alleged contribution in the UPA government’s

What Mr. V K Singh did was exposing the prevalent taboo regarding discussing the mental issues. Ram Kishan Grewal was NO GOD, he was as human as you and me. Even he must have faced some traumatic issues that were too much for him to handle. So if an ex Army General had asked for investigating the right reasons, did he commit a crime? OH, I forget that General Vijay Kumar Singh is a designated villain for the self declared custodians of the democratic institutions of INDIA; even if he talks sense, he will still be painted as a villain.

This is not the first time Vijay Kumar Singh has kicked up a storm. His chalk and cheese relationships with the anti INDIA cartel starts from 2011, when he was ridiculed and made a butt of jokes, just for filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the correction of his age in the government records.

The story just didn’t end there. Four years later, when VK Singh spearheaded one of the most successful evacuations of the stranded Indians in Yemen under Operation Raahat, instead of appreciating his efforts, the mainstream media asked his opinions on skipping the Pakistan High Commission’s events mid way, VK Singh counterattacked them, mocking their specific concerns. Irritated by the negative mudslinging, he further defined the pseudo liberal journalists on this issue aptly as presstitutes, who were more concerned in twisting each story their way.

Likewise, Manohar Parrikar also counterattacked the opposition’s claim of the government doing nothing. Following are the clarifications of the Defence Ministry, which pose another serious doubt on the intentions of the deceased army veteran and the supporting politicians’ altogether.

  • According to the deceased’s backers, Mr. Grewal’s application was submitted to the Defence Ministry and rejected. Whereas, according to official sources, Mr. Grewal did write the application, but not submit it. Why did he do so? What stopped him from doing so?
  • If OROP was not implemented, how come many an army veteran are tweeting their satisfaction and their pension details?
  • According to the spread lies, Ram Kishan Grewal was not given a paisa of his pension. Whereas, the same day as Mr. Grewal set out, a pension of Rs. 28000 was credited to his account, although incorrectly as Rs. 23000. For the anomaly of Rs. 5000, Mr. Grewal could’ve written a simple letter. Why did he commit suicide, if on an actual basis, for a paltry sum of Rs. 5000/-? Interestingly, if 7th Pay Commission is implemented on time, i.e. by March 2017, his pension would have increased to Rs. 35000 approximately.

Besides, Mr. Manohar Parrikar himself clarified, that approximately 1 lakh ex servicemen of the concerned 24 – 25 lakhs ex servicemen under OROP are yet to get complete benefits. Besides, this statement cannot be completely untrue. Nothing is perfect, even if the OROP scheme is successful, there are some glitches that could happen with anyone. The concept of an error free system is as hypothetical as Kejriwal doing anything for Delhi. Period.

To cut the long story short, the time is ripe, for the Indian denizens to shed their overburdened cloak of ‘political correctness.’ I know being bold and straightforward is not easy, but it’s still much better than being a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and we shall owe a lot to Mr. Manohar Parrikar and General VK Singh for that.
