Quran Desecration Case: Did AAP really go that far?

Naresh Yadav, AAP MLA from Mehrauli Vidhan Sabha constituency is all over headlines these days. Sangrur district cops have booked Yadav under section 153 (A) and section 109. Reports suggest that Yadav had promised to pay an amount of one crore to Vijay Kumar in exchange for tearing Quran and throwing its pages in Muslim dominated area within Punjab’s Malerkotla city.

Can this possibly be a leaf out of Congress party’s book?

The case is under investigation, but neutral political analysts would be easily able to point out that AAP MLA’s alleged attempt to trigger riots in Punjab is in line with its parent secular parties like Congress, NCP, BSP, and SP.

From the state of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Assam, Gujarat to Maharashtra, there are several stories that show how secular parties have benefited by triggering riots and creating a communal atmosphere.

During Congress-NCP‘s 15 years of rule in Maharashtra, the state witnessed several riots. Anyone living in state’s communally sensitive cities like Dhule, Aurangabad, and Sangli would be able to certify how people associated with secular parties have triggered riots to win elections in the past. Congress’s Rajya Sabha MP-Husain Dalwai himself has exposed party’s ally NCP and their leaders several times for triggering riots in Sangli.  In fact, police had even arrested NCP’s former Mayor of Sangli, Mainuddin Shamsuddin Bagwan in June 2010 for his role as the mastermind in September 2009s Sangli riots.  There are enough case studies to show how secular parties threaten and blackmail minorities.

What’s Punjab story?

June 24th night must have been horrific for Farzana Alam, Akali Dal MLA from Malerkotla city as people attacked her property, set her house on fire during communal violence that was triggered after pages of Quran were found on Khanna road. Several people from this mob of ‘peaceful’ individuals were injured during their gun battle with cops.

Later, based on clues and evidence, police arrested Nand Kishore Goldy (secretary for VHP’s Pathankot division), his son Gaurav, and individual named Vijay Kumar.  During their investigation, all three of them confessed regarding their role in the triggering the incident. But, police were surprised when Vijay Kumar named the (alleged) mastermind. He revealed that AAP’s MLA Naresh Yadav had offered rupees one crore for tearing the Quran’s pages and leaving them at the concerned spot which happens to be Muslim majority area.

Delhi-based Vijay Kumar said Yadav wanted to create communal tension in parts of Punjab so that people from the state would show their anger against Congress, SAD-BJP during the upcoming elections and vote for AAP. Vijay Kumar told police that AAP MLA also shared the opinion that his party wants to win polls in Punjab by hook or crook.

During the investigation, police seized an Audi car owned by Vijay Kumar. Pages from Quran were also recovered from this car.  On being asked about his motive, Kumar said he agreed to join AAP MLA in this act as he hates Muslims, Pakistan and wants revenge for Pathankot and Dinanagar attacks. Nand Kishore and his son Gaurav helped him in completing the task. According to Kumar, AAP MLA had promised more of similar assignments to the group after successful completion of the Quran task.

Sangrur’s SSP Pritpal Singh Thind interacted with journalists and shared some details about the case. He pointed out that suspects were not paid for their task in advance. They were also planning to tear out pages of Hindu holy book and leave its pages in various parts of the state to create further communal tension. The senior superintendent of police pointed out that the aim of these individuals was to create communal tension to earn political mileage.

Pre-printed clean chit and honesty certificate for MLA

As expected and seen in several cases involving AAP MLAs in illegal activities, the party quickly blamed BJP for their own MLA’s act. Their spokesperson Sanjay Singh said SAD-BJP Government is sure that AAP will come to power in Punjab and hence they are implicating Aam Admi Party’s people in various cases. MLA Yadav also interacted with reporters and said he never met Vijay Kumar before.

MLA in question recently met Punjab’s DGP Suresh Arora and urged the police to hang him in case if he is found guilty.

If cops have foolproof evidence about Yadav’s involvement, they should seriously consider floating tender for purchasing strong rope.

Police can easily create a strong case with simple pieces of evidence like MLA’s phone location records for the date and time given by Vijay Kumar in his police statement.

Strong hopes from Punjab

The party made it in headlines after winning four parliamentary seats during 2014s Lok Sabha polls. AAP was rejected by all states except for Punjab during those elections. Hence, political experts believe that Arvind Kejriwal would try every trick in the book to win a maximum number of seats. Let’s keep aside the fact that some of AAP MPs are not at all willing to campaign for their party.

Reports suggest that Aam Admi Party has also spent lavishly on party’s advertisements in parts of Canada, the US, Australia, and the UK to attract Punjabi NRIs. Hope people from Punjab are smart enough to understand what’s going on around them.
