We read how Lalu Prasad Yadav was instrumental in getting Congress 40 seats while every political pundit predicted a complete rout for Congress in Bihar. We also went through the situations under which Samajwadi Party was forced to quit the alliance and then went on to launch a blistering attack on Nitish Kumar. We ended the article with this question:
Is Lalu Prasad Yadav intentionally sabotaging Nitish Kumar’s chances in this elections? If yes, why?
On 3rd of October 2013, Lalu Prasad Yadav was sentenced to five years imprisonment in a 17-year-old fodder scam case by a special CBI court after he was convicted on corruption and other charges. Another former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra was sentenced to four years imprisonment in the case. Only a week ago, Rahul Gandhi had torn an ordinance issued by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with the famous words “I’ll tell you what my opinion on the ordinance is. It’s complete nonsense. It should be torn up and thrown away. That is my personal opinion”. The ordinance strived to save convicted legislators from disqualification. Rahul’s public criticism of his own government led the party and the Manmohan Singh government to do a cartwheel on the ordinance. Lalu Prasad Yadav was the first prey of the non-enforcement of the ordinance. In a week’s time, Lalu Prasad Yadav was behind the bars. He got out of jail in about two and half months but under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA), he was disqualified from the membership of the Lok Sabha, Besides, Lalu Prasad Yadav was barred to contest any election to the state legislature, Parliament or to the highest offices of President and Vice-President for the next six years.
This is where things changed for Lalu Prasad Yadav. His sons were too young to assume the skipper’s role and there was no one in the party who could hold the throne for his sons till they seasoned into full-fledged politicians. This led to a fallout between him and his favourite Bahubali (Muscleman) Pappu Yadav and many other prominent RJD leaders. RJD like Samajwadi Party is a family controlled political party and the answer to the question “Is Lalu Prasad Yadav intentionally sabotaging Nitish Kumar’s chances in this elections? If yes, why?” lies in this very fact.
Nitish’s victory will shut the doors for Lalu Prasad Yadav. Firstly Nitish Kumar after the victory will become the lone face of Bihar and the sole challenger to Modi’s dominance in Indian Politics and secondly he will become the focal point of the united anti BJP union in India. Nitish Kumar is a seasoned politician and opportunist of the purest kind. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family would have to toe his line to stay politically relevant in the 2019 General elections.
But Nitish Kumar’s loss will have some positive outcomes for Lalu. Firstly, he probably will be the leader of the biggest opposition party of Bihar thereby reducing Nitish Kumar to an inconsequential third spot in Bihar Politics. Secondly, it will give ample time for his sons to mature into seasoned politicians. Thirdly it will keep RJD hopes of re-emergence alive. In Politics sometimes one loss is bigger than many victories.
Although this is a conspiracy theory solely based on the recent developments and bitter-sour dealings between Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav, but there are too many coincidences already that strongly support the arguments in this conspiracy theory and Coincidence is merely the puppeteers’ curtain, hiding the hands that pull the world’s strings.
