During a powerful rally in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi struck a chord with thousands when he spoke about the harassment faced by Bihari migrant workers in Tamil Nadu. His words were direct, factual, and long overdue. He said that the DMK’s leaders in Tamil Nadu have been tormenting hardworking people from Bihar a statement that instantly rattled the Stalin-led government. Rather than addressing the issue or expressing concern for the migrant workers, DMK reacted defensively, accusing the Prime Minister of “insulting Tamil people.” But this is where DMK’s deceitful politics stands exposed. When Modi raised a humanitarian issue, Stalin twisted it into an identity issue because truth is something the DMK cannot digest.
When Truth Makes DMK Uncomfortable
After PM Modi’s remarks, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin went on the offensive, accusing the Prime Minister of “losing the dignity of his position.” Stalin posted on X:
“Mr. Hon’ble Prime Minister is responsible for everyone in this country. As a Tamilian, I painfully request that Narendra Modi should not lose his responsible dignity with such speeches, which he often forgets.”
But the irony is glaring. The DMK government whose leaders have made a career out of mocking North Indians is hardly qualified to speak about “dignity.” There have been countless instances when DMK ministers, MPs, and functionaries have insulted people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, labeling them as “unclean,” “illiterate,” or “menial laborers.” PM Modi merely held up a mirror, and the reflection made DMK uncomfortable.
A Pattern of Prejudice: DMK’s Track Record of North Indian Insults
Over the years, DMK leaders have left behind a long trail of derogatory remarks that expose their deep-seated prejudice. Here are just a few examples:
TN CM Thiru @mkstalin is in Bihar today. Here is an evergreen compilation of his, his party members’, and his alliance partners’ uncouth remarks about our Bihari brothers and sisters.
Hope he takes the stage with Thiru @RahulGandhi avl and proudly repeats every one of those… pic.twitter.com/bE3I1ykkGO

Durai Murugan, DMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu’s Water Resources Minister, described North Indians as “filthy with bad odour” and accused them of polygamy. At a Gudiyatham meeting on March 12, 2025 he even threatened to “cut the tongues” of those who called Tamilians uncivilized.
DMK leader Constantine said that states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar follow Sanatana Dharma because they are “illiterate and uneducated” and that their election outcomes have no relevance to Tamil Nadu.
In December 2023, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran declared that Hindi-speaking migrants from UP and Bihar who come to Tamil Nadu only end up doing “construction work, cleaning roads, and toilets.”
During the Winter Session of Parliament in 2023, DMK MP D.N.V. Senthilkumar referred to BJP-ruled states as “Gau Mutra states,” mocking the Hindi heartland after BJP’s victories in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
DMK’s organisational secretary Bharati compared Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi to a “Bihari migrant selling soan papdi and pani puri,” saying he must have “come on the same train” as them.
Even Chief Minister Stalin himself once claimed during an election rally that the BJP was “trying to bring in Hindi speakers to win Tamil Nadu elections,” a baseless and divisive statement meant only to stoke linguistic fear.
Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, at an event in Chennai, insulted North Indian culture by claiming that women in North India “are still treated as property,” unlike in Tamil Nadu a sweeping generalization that reeks of arrogance.
In 2022, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy called Hindi speakers “North Indian invaders” and mocked those who learn Hindi, further deepening the linguistic divide.
These are not isolated slips they represent a consistent mindset. DMK’s politics thrives on dividing India between North and South, Dravidian and Aryan, Tamil and Hindi.
Anti-Hindi, Anti-North: DMK’s Old Political Weapon
Whenever DMK faces political pressure or declining popularity, it turns to its oldest tool anti-Hindi and anti-North propaganda. This Dravidian rhetoric is used not just to create fear among Tamil voters but also to mask the party’s administrative failures. From poor law and order to industrial stagnation, DMK deflects criticism by manufacturing a cultural war.
PM Modi’s reference to the plight of Bihari workers was not about language or identity it was about justice and dignity for Indian citizens working in another Indian state. By twisting it into a “Tamil insult,” Stalin tried to shift the narrative. But the truth remains migrant workers have indeed faced harassment in Tamil Nadu, and DMK’s own leaders have contributed to that atmosphere with their derogatory remarks.
Even more shocking is the Congress and RJD’s silence. Despite these repeated insults toward North Indians, both parties have invited Stalin to campaign in Bihar. This hypocrisy reveals the moral bankruptcy of the INDIA bloc where votes matter more than values.
What this entire episode reveals is not just DMK’s hatred toward North Indians, but also the double standards of the so-called INDIA alliance. When PM Modi spoke of unity and dignity for every Indian worker, DMK accused him of spreading division. Yet, it is the DMK leadership that has consistently demeaned fellow Indians based on language and region.
Instead of addressing real issues like jobs, safety, and governance DMK continues to inflame linguistic pride and regional insecurity. The Congress and RJD, by aligning with such a party, have shown that their alliance is driven by political greed, not national interest.
PM Modi’s words resonated because they reflected an uncomfortable truth. Tamil Nadu’s migrant workers deserve respect and protection, not insults and discrimination. And if calling out that truth makes DMK uneasy, it only proves how deeply the rot runs within their politics.
India needs unity, not Dravidian vs Aryan politics. But as long as DMK continues this divisive path, the people will see through their hypocrisy and remember who truly stood for every Indian, from Bihar to Tamil Nadu.
