Two CRPF schools and several courts across the national capital went into emergency mode on Tuesday after receiving bomb threats via e-mail, triggering swift security responses and precautionary evacuations, officials said.
According to the Delhi Fire Services, the two schools—located in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka—received threatening messages around 9 a.m.
Soon after, three major court complexes, including the Saket District Court and Patiala House Court, were cleared out when similar e-mails surfaced.
Authorities moved quickly and students, staff, lawyers, and court visitors were escorted to safety as bomb disposal squads and security teams combed the premises.
Delhi Police officials confirmed that they are investigating the origin of the threatening e-mails, while heightened security has been deployed across the affected zones. Parents have been urged to rely only on official updates and cooperate with security protocols.
The threats come at a time when the city is already on edge. Just a week earlier, a devastating car blast near the Red Fort on November 10 claimed 15 lives, intensifying fears of escalating terror activity.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is leading the probe into the Red Fort bombing, on Monday arrested another Kashmiri resident linked to the suicide attack.
Investigators revealed that the Jaish module involved had been planning Hamas-style drone attacks in India, in addition to attempting to fabricate small rockets for a coordinated series of blasts, signalling a far more sophisticated terror network than initially believed.
On Sunday, the NIA took into custody Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Pampore, in whose name the i20 car used in the explosion was registered.
Meanwhile, a disturbing new angle has emerged with investigators now examining whether Jaish-e-Mohammed operative Umar Un Nabi had attempted to function as a “shoe bomber.”
The suspicion arose after a shoe was found beneath the driving seat near the right front tyre of the i20.
The discovery has drawn parallels to the chilling 2001 incident involving Richard Reid, who tried to detonate TATP hidden inside his shoes on an American Airlines flight.
Forensic experts found a metallic object inside the recovered shoe, which is now being analysed to determine whether it could have served as a triggering device for the explosive.
Days after the deadly car explosion outside Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids early Tuesday at the offices of Al-Falah University, its trustees, and associated individuals and entities in the Okhla area.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the Red Fort explosion climbed to 15, after two more victims, hospitalised following the attack, succumbed to their injuries at LNJP Hospital.
