Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra once again found herself in the middle of a storm this time for endorsing a Christian extremist’s vile and racist slur against Hindus and India’s most beloved festival, Diwali. Quoting a post that called Diwali celebrations in the West “ret**ded garbage” and labelled Indians as “braindead”, Moitra simply responded, “I agree.”
The hate-filled post, was written by a self-proclaimed Christ. Instead of condemning the comment, Moitra publicly endorsed it essentially supporting a narrative that demonised Hindus, insulted Indian culture, and mocked the idea of diversity she otherwise pretends to champion. Her response fits into a disturbing global trend of Hinduphobia disguised as progressivism, especially visible across Western media and social platforms.
Across social media in the US and UK, Diwali greetings this year became a flashpoint for racist and anti-Hindu hate. Prominent Hindu figures like FBI Director Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard, a US military veteran and former Congresswoman, faced abuse for simply extending Diwali wishes. Patel was called a “demon worshipper”, while Gabbard was told to “move to India.” These incidents exposed the hypocrisy of Western “liberals” who preach inclusivity but mock Hindu faiths in practice.
Against this backdrop, Mahua Moitra’s endorsement of such hate wasn’t accidental it was deliberate, consistent, and politically revealing.
A Pattern of Anti-Hindu Bigotry
Moitra’s endorsement isn’t an isolated slip of the tongue it is part of a pattern of contempt for Hindu beliefs and communities. Earlier this year, in August, she made derogatory remarks targeting the Namasudra and Matua communities, both Scheduled Castes with deep roots in Bengal’s Hindu tradition.
In a viral video, she was heard mocking them in Bengali:
“All year you are Trinamooli, and during elections Sanatani?”
She even ridiculed the sacred Kanthi Mala worn by Vaishnav devotees, dismissing them as “people who wear wooden beads and come to take doles.” The remarks sparked massive outrage, with BJP leaders like Amit Malviya calling her speech “anti-Hindu, casteist venom” and demanding accountability.
This wasn’t the first time Moitra had disrespected Hindu faith. In 2022, she courted controversy by describing Goddess Kali as a “goddess who accepts meat and liquor,” a remark that led to widespread anger among devotees and temple priests. Instead of introspection, Moitra doubled down, portraying herself as a victim of “Hindutva trolls.”
Her record shows a consistent disdain for Hindu sentiments, whether through mockery, selective outrage, or open endorsement of hate speech.
The Mamata Model: Appeasement Over Faith
Mahua Moitra’s behaviour cannot be viewed in isolation it is a byproduct of Mamata Banerjee’s politics of appeasement. Under her leadership, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has repeatedly pandered to radical vote banks while turning a blind eye to attacks on Hindu traditions and temples.
In West Bengal, Hindu festivals like Diwali and Kali Puja have been routinely targeted under TMC’s rule. Local authorities, allegedly under pressure from Islamist groups, have imposed restrictions on firecrackers and even harassed Hindu families celebrating festivals. In several districts, Kali temples have been attacked, and in others, devotees faced violence for performing pujas.
Meanwhile, Mamata’s administration has often shown extraordinary sympathy toward illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh, while accusing BJP workers and Hindu organisations of “polarisation.” The hypocrisy is glaring those who light lamps on Diwali are branded as nuisances, while those who disturb communal peace are labelled “victims.”
This is the new normal under Mamata Banerjee’s TMC where Hindu identity is mocked, temples are attacked, and anyone asserting their faith is dismissed as a “bigot.” Mahua Moitra merely articulates what her party quietly practices.
TMC MP is openly endorsing Anti-Indian and by default Anri-Hindu narrative
Heart of Mahua cries for ROHINGYAS but she doesn’t think twice before endorsing ANTI-INDIA hatred that snatched multiple lives in foreign.
She is a blot on humanity.
A foreign hate-monger, while criticizing the celebration of Hindu festival Diwali abroad, called Indians “brain dead”, “shithole”, and compared Diwali to retard and garbage.

From National Security to National Shame
Mahua Moitra’s political career has been tainted not just by her anti-Hindu bias but also by allegations of corruption and misconduct. From being accused of compromising national security for luxury handbags in the Hiranandani “cash-for-query” scandal to her infamous claim that Bangladesh is better than India, she has repeatedly embarrassed the Indian Parliament.
In a separate incident, Moitra reportedly made a shocking comment about beheading Union Home Minister Amit Shah, displaying her disregard for democratic decorum. For a sitting MP to endorse hate against India abroad while engaging in violent rhetoric at home speaks volumes about her moral compass — or lack thereof.
An X user summed it up aptly:
“An Indian politician elected by Indians is supporting anti-India and anti-Hindu statements. Not only shameful but outright treason.”
After facing backlash, Moitra deleted her tweet and offered a vague excuse. But as critics pointed out, her actions were deliberate she even shared a video echoing the same Hinduphobic narrative moments later. Her deletion was not repentance, but damage control.
Mahua Moitra’s repeated attacks on Hindu faith, festivals, and culture are not random outbursts they are the logical outcome of Mamata Banerjee’s politics, where appeasement outweighs accountability, and anti-Hindu rhetoric earns political dividends.
From mocking Goddess Kali to endorsing hate against Diwali, Moitra represents a brand of politics that thrives on insulting India’s majority, all while claiming to defend secularism. Her party’s silence is even more telling it signals approval, not disapproval.
As Bengal’s temples come under attack and Hindu customs face derision, the question is no longer about one MP’s tweet it’s about the rot within TMC’s ideology. When elected leaders cheer for foreigners who call Indians “braindead” and Diwali “garbage,” it ceases to be politics. It becomes treachery against civilisation itself.
