In a disturbing incident, a 39-year-old man was arrested in Delhi for allegedly raping his mother after she returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, according to reports.
As per reports, the incident came to light after the complainant along with her 25-year-old daughter filed a complaint at the the Hauz Qazi police station.
The woman alleged that her son, identified as Mohammad Firoz alias Suhel, had assaulted and sexually abused her on multiple occasions this month in August.
According to police, in the complaint the victim alleged that she had travelled to Saudi Arabia with her husband (72) and their daughter for pilgrimage on July 25.
While they were in the trip, her son allegedly called on her husband’s phone and accused her of having a ‘bad character,’ demanding that his father return immediately to Delhi and divorce her.
The woman along with her husband and daughter returned home on August 1, following which the accused allegedly assaulted his mother.
The complainant said, that the accused attacked her again the next day, after which the woman went to stay at her elder daughter’s in-laws’ house for some time.
After she returned, the accused told her that he wanted to talk to her privately.
“He then locked her in a room, threatened her with a knife and scissors, and allegedly raped her,” the police stated.
At first, the woman did not say anything to anyone because of shame, however, the accused allegedly repeated the act on August 14, after which she approached the police.
According to an official, “He locked her in the room and raped her. He said that he was punishing her for her previous conduct even as she pleaded that she was his mother.”
The Delhi Police have filed an official complaint under the relevant section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation has been taken up in the matter.
