In a groundbreaking revelation, Lt Gen Rahul Singh, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, has exposed China’s deep involvement in Pakistan’s military actions during the recently concluded Operation Sindoor. Speaking at the ‘New Age Military Technologies’ event hosted by FICCI in New Delhi, Lt Gen Singh outlined how China actively supported Pakistan, with Beijing playing a pivotal role in providing real-time intelligence and military hardware. The operation, which took place between May 7 and 10, 2025, saw escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, further complicated by the involvement of China and Turkey.

China Provided Live Military Intelligence to Pakistan During the Conflict

Lt Gen Singh revealed that while India was facing off with Pakistan on one front, China was working behind the scenes, offering crucial assistance. He highlighted that China supplied Pakistan with live updates regarding India’s critical military assets and operational movements during the four-day conflict. This intelligence sharing was not only aimed at aiding Pakistan’s military strategy but also highlighted China’s broader objective of testing its weaponry in real combat situations, using Pakistan as a “live lab” for its military technologies.

According to Singh, China has long been testing its weapons against various adversaries, with Pakistan serving as a testing ground for Chinese military technology, including missiles, air defense systems, and drones. “China’s military hardware is now a central part of Pakistan’s arsenal, with 81% of Pakistan’s military equipment sourced from China,” Lt Gen Singh remarked. The revelation underscores the growing military ties between the two countries and the role they play in destabilizing the region.

Turkey’s Role in Supplying Drones to Pakistan

Beyond China, Lt Gen Singh also pointed to the role of Turkey in the conflict. According to the official, Turkey provided drones to Pakistan, which were used to target critical Indian infrastructure, including military installations and cities. Despite the advanced capabilities of these drones, India’s air defense systems successfully intercepted most of the incoming projectiles, mitigating the damage. However, the presence of such foreign assistance to Pakistan raised alarms about the international dimension of the conflict.

India’s Strategic Approach: Balancing Escalation and De-escalation

During his speech, Lt Gen Singh highlighted the strategic planning behind India’s response during Operation Sindoor. He discussed how the Indian military managed to strike a balance between escalation and de-escalation. While India was quick to act, it was equally strategic in ensuring that once military objectives were reached, the conflict did not spiral out of control.

“We must always be at the top of the escalation ladder, but once the military objective is reached, we should attempt to put a stop to it. War is easy to initiate, but incredibly difficult to control,” said Lt Gen Singh. His statement emphasized the need for clarity in strategic messaging, with India ensuring that its objectives were achieved without triggering a broader conflict. The operation included the identification of 21 targets, nine of which were chosen for engagement. This careful, calculated approach showcased India’s integrated military capability.

Prime Minister Modi’s Stance: Operation Sindoor Not Over Yet

The military action culminated in India’s successful strikes on 11 of Pakistan’s most critical airbases on May 10. Following the strikes, Pakistan’s DGMO initiated communication with his Indian counterpart, calling for a ceasefire. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made it clear that Operation Sindoor was not over and that it was only paused. He emphasized that India’s military operations would continue, signaling a strong resolve to safeguard national security and to send a clear message to Pakistan and its allies. The firm stance taken by India serves as a reminder of the country’s unwavering commitment to its security.

Strategic Implications of the China-Pakistan-Turkey Nexus

The involvement of multiple foreign powers in supporting Pakistan during Operation Sindoor has serious implications for regional security. China’s growing military support to Pakistan, coupled with Turkey’s involvement, suggests a strengthening of alliances aimed at countering India’s influence in the region. Lt Gen Singh’s remarks serve as a stark warning about the increasing internationalization of conflicts between India and Pakistan, as these global powers actively participate in shaping the region’s security dynamics.

As India navigates this complex geopolitical landscape, it is evident that future military engagements will require even greater coordination and preparedness. With adversaries on multiple fronts, including Pakistan, China, and Turkey, India will need to bolster its defense capabilities and enhance its strategic alliances to maintain stability in the region.
