Modi Government Completes 11 Years: JP Nadda Highlights Major Milestones, From Welfare Reforms to Demonetisation

“We didn’t just promise to eliminate poverty—we demonstrated what effective welfare looks like,” he said, underlining the shift from political rhetoric to tangible policy outcomes.

As the NDA government completes 11 years at the Centre, BJP National President and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed a press conference in New Delhi, outlining the Modi administration’s achievements across the last decade. Emphasizing inclusive governance and transformative reforms, Nadda said the government moved beyond slogans and delivered results, particularly in the areas of poverty alleviation and national integration.

“We didn’t just promise to eliminate poverty—we demonstrated what effective welfare looks like,” he said, underlining the shift from political rhetoric to tangible policy outcomes.

‘Sabka Saath’ to Systemic Reforms

Nadda attributed the government’s success to its unwavering commitment to the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Effort by all). He noted that India had seen major developmental strides under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, calling the past 11 years a period of historic change.

He remarked, “What we’ve achieved since 2014 deserves to be remembered as a golden chapter in India’s political history. The scale and nature of these reforms are both unique and unprecedented.”

Critique of Pre-2014 Governance

Contrasting the current administration with previous regimes, Nadda said governance prior to 2014 was marred by scandals, inefficiency, and public disillusionment.

“Before Modi ji took charge, the country was stuck in a cycle of corruption and pessimism. Now, we hear a confident nation saying: ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’ (With Modi, it’s possible),” Nadda said.

He further claimed that over 250 million Indians have moved above the poverty line in the past decade, and that extreme poverty has declined by nearly 80%—figures he attributed to consistent pro-poor policies and data-backed welfare efforts.

Landmark Legislative Decisions

Outlining landmark decisions taken during the Modi years, Nadda said it would be impossible to compress all achievements into one briefing. Still, he pointed out several defining moves that reshaped national policy:

Revocation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir

Abolition of Triple Talaq, protecting Muslim women’s rights

Amendments to the Waqf Act, ensuring greater transparency

Passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)

33% reservation for women in legislative bodies

“These aren’t just policy decisions—they reflect our commitment to constitutional justice and national progress,” he said.

Empowering Marginalized Communities

Nadda emphasized the government’s efforts to bring historically marginalized communities—Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes—into the mainstream. He also highlighted the push for women-led development, mentioning initiatives such as:

The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme to support rural women entrepreneurs

Strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs)

Focused policy attention on female participation in national development

J&K Participation Rates and Political Integration

On Jammu & Kashmir, Nadda recalled that abrogating Article 370 was once seen as politically impossible. But, he said, the Modi government not only made it happen, it also created the foundation for stronger democratic participation.

He cited data to show progress: 58.46% turnout in the Lok Sabha elections and 63% in the J&K Assembly polls, describing these numbers as a sign of restored faith in democratic processes.

Shifting Political Culture

Reflecting on the broader shift in governance style, Nadda stated that pre-2014 politics was based on appeasement and fragmentation, with leaders more concerned about consolidating power than delivering results.

“The Modi era introduced accountability through performance. We believe in showing our report card to the people,” he asserted.

Revisiting Demonetisation

Touching upon the controversial 2016 demonetisation, Nadda recalled the public patience and resilience during that period.

“I remember how some political parties tried to incite people during that time. But ordinary citizens stood in queues and still backed the government’s tough call. That’s what happens when leadership earns trust,” he said.

A Decade of Transformation

In his closing remarks, Nadda framed the Modi government’s 11 years as a journey of bold decisions, inclusive development, and a new political ethos—one rooted in service, responsibility, and national interest.

As the BJP eyes its next phase of leadership and policy delivery, Nadda’s address appeared not just as a retrospective, but a strategic reaffirmation of the party’s governance model.
