Kolkata Police have revealed disturbing details in the ongoing investigation into the gang-rape of a 20-year-old law student in a reputed South Kolkata law college. Officials now believe the assault was not a spontaneous act but a planned crime, with the survivor allegedly being targeted shortly after joining the institution.

Preliminary findings from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) indicate that the accused had kept the student under observation and orchestrated the assault within the college premises. Senior police officials have described the crime as “premeditated,” pointing toward deliberate planning and a possible conspiracy among those involved.
While the exact motive is still under investigation, officials have not ruled out the possibility of intimidation or retaliation, and are looking into whether the accused were attempting to silence or manipulate the victim for personal or political reasons.

This brings the total number of arrests to four, including a non-teaching staff member and individuals reportedly connected to campus networks.
