BJP leader Amit Malviya on Friday strongly criticized Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader A Revanth Reddy for his controversial remarks questioning the performance of Rafale jets in the recent military conflict with Pakistan. Reddy had demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi reveal how many Rafales were allegedly downed by Pakistan — a claim dismissed by the BJP as baseless and irresponsible.
Taking to social media platform X, Malviya, who heads the BJP’s National Information and Technology Department, wrote:
“After Rahul Gandhi, now Revanth Reddy joins the chorus asking — ‘How many Rafale jets did Pakistan shoot down?’ It’s astonishing how the Congress continues to expose its lack of understanding on matters of national security.”
He emphasized that if any Rafale had been shot down, the evidence would be undeniable — satellite imagery, wreckage, and independent verification would have surfaced globally. Instead, Malviya accused the Congress of spreading misinformation and undermining the armed forces.
“Rather than asking the right questions — like how many Pakistani jets were destroyed, including those hit on the ground during Operation Sindoor — the Congress seems more focused on echoing narratives that suit our adversaries,” Malviya added. “It’s troubling how often their questions mirror what Pakistan would want the world to hear.”
He went further, suggesting that the Congress has repeatedly failed to stand with the nation in times of conflict. “Whether through ignorance or deliberate politics, the Congress is doing more harm than good. It’s acting less like an Opposition and more like a loudspeaker for enemy propaganda.”
Malviya’s sharp response came after Revanth Reddy, while addressing a ‘Jai Hind’ rally in Nizampet on Thursday, launched a verbal offensive against Prime Minister Modi. Reddy questioned why the PM hadn’t convened an all-party meeting before ending Operation Sindoor and accused him of failing to fulfill promises regarding Balochistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Referring to the involvement of Telangana-based soldiers and defense manufacturing, Reddy claimed, “Rafale aircraft bought by Narendra Modi were shot down by Pakistan. Why is there no discussion on this? The Prime Minister must answer how many Rafales were lost.”
Critics within the BJP argue that such statements not only distort facts but also demoralize the armed forces and distract from India’s strategic successes. They also point out that this is not the first time Congress leaders have made misleading or inflammatory remarks regarding military operations or defense equipment.
“Instead of celebrating the precision and success of our strikes and the bravery of our armed forces, Congress keeps returning to tired conspiracy theories and false claims about Rafales,” a BJP spokesperson said. “This isn’t accountability — it’s political theatre, and at a time when unity is needed most.”
