In a major crackdown on Pakistan’s espionage network, Indian security forces arrested Pathan Khan, a Jaisalmer resident, on May 1, 2025. Khan stands accused of being an ISI informant for Pakistan who passed on sensitive military and border intelligence.
Khan, who had travelled to Pakistan in 2013, is understood to have kept secret contact with ISI operatives even after his trip. As per Intelligence sources, Khan was engaged in passing sensitive defence information, mainly regarding the security status along the Jaisalmer International Border. He regularly visited Pakistan even after 2013 and maintained a direct communication with the Pakistani intelligence agency.
The arrest follows a heightened security crackdown in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 civilians dead. Indian Army and intelligence agencies have upped operations to eliminate espionage operations and destroy Pakistan’s clandestine network operating within India.

Locals Stand Firm, Ready to Defend India
Tensions are running high along the Rajasthan border, especially in villages situated near the Indo-Pak border. Locals have begun digging bunkers and fortifying defenses, demonstrating their desire to support the Indian Army if the need arises. Locals living in the region, who are familiar with the 1971 Indo-Pak war, have reiterated their commitment to safeguard India from incursions.
Arjun Singh, a villager, echoed the sentiment of the masses, denouncing the recent attacks and expressing the determination for a strong response to Pakistan’s provocations.
“We are ready to assist the army, as we did in the 1971 war. Pakistan needs to be held responsible for its actions,” Singh said to news agency ANI. Other villagers showed the same determination to stand by the Indian forces.
Pakistan’s Military Escalation and Rising Border Tensions
Across the border, Pakistan’s military continues to increase its strength along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC). Recent indications are of deployment of sophisticated artillery systems and air defense systems, as well as large-scale military exercises involving Pakistan’s advanced fighter aircraft, like the F-16 and JF-17.

These steps follow consistent ceasefire breaches along the LoC and International Border, with relations between the two nations at a record low. Indian officials have warned Pakistan sharply, calling on it to desist from aggressive acts. The Indian Army has stated that it is ready to respond firmly to any more breaches.
